Had something similar, very very convincing email no spelling mistakes paypal graphics looked genuine the only thing that gave it away was the senders email address.

If it's a definite crack might be worth getting repaired, not worth the risk in getting moisture/water in the case otherwise i'd leave it.
On the plus the side the servicing would be cheap just pop in a new movement from Eta every couple of years, heck you could even do it yourself :)

Considering getting one of these but wanted to make clear; are the end slots on the box 'cut off' half of the slot seem viewable from either side in the pics?
So just becuase the ETA movement isn't stampted Panerai means it's somehow cheap and rubbish; but if the same movement is stamped that justifies the price? :?
