In fairness, I've only decided after getting answers from her. I'm spooked, but I can't put my finger on why.
Yea, it's super odd that she's done that and the explaination in our chat was...
Oh man, I've wasted way too much time on this purchase. I'm not even enjoying the process, I just want to figure out how I'm being scammed!
I'm 95% sure it's a scam, just from the way she talks,...
I've emailed GO and the jewelers, let's see what they say. I might well fly over. Flights are cheap enough

Very true, I just can't be doing with that extra stress/ admin in my life at the moment, hence the extra precautions.

Yup, that's my main concern. Price is too good to be true

So the seller got back to me, proving they have the watch!
Eek!
Now my only concern is that it's a replica.
Any experts out there that can help out?
Extra images attached.
Asked for a photo of her eBay username written on a paper with the watch. If she comes through, I'm gonna risk it!
Around 1/4 of the price it should be
Another reply:
Hi, The watch belongs to my partner. He purchased it in 2000. The watch comes with certificate. He used to collect all different brands of watches. He hasn’t bought a new one in a...
Thanks all! No money paid yet. I asked about the delivery and got the below response. Also now followed up asking about the history of the watch and why she's selling. The whatsapp profile picture...
Hoping I've got a steal, but I'm guessing this is more than likely a replica.

I would agree, it's not a great price bracket. Get something cheap like a Mondane or Gshock to tide you over until you can pick up something worth holding on to.
I picked up my first Datejust for less than a grand.
..actually, that's a lie, I think it was maybe £1.1k.
I'd hold out for a Rolex personally
You were right! I'm in! Yay
I was hoping to post a few watches in sales corner this morning - my one productive job of day.
My post count is greater than 250 and I've been on the forum for longer than 180 days.
Any ideas...
That's so cute. When you get one for her, you should add it to your collection and then next time you're looking together you can say, "I want you to have this one".
Why risk it? Personally I feel more comfortable, showering, bathing, and in the sauna without a watch. Take it off and give your wrists a scrub! :p
I think this was posted elsewhere, but thanks. Always tempted by a new Omega, but can never stomach the devaluation of buying a new watch.
Looks good. Can't knock it for less than 1/10 of the price!
Bending spring bars to get the fit though - eek, I'm not sure if I would feel comfortable wearing a watch knowing that they had the...
Beautiful combo.
Yup, I'll second this, I've seem some very tired looking watches go for much more than expected.
First have a *virtual pat on the shoulder*.
You're asking a very personal question - it really depends if the watch has any sentimental value and if so, how much.
If the watch is just a...
haha, for future reference you can set your phone to manual time!
I also feel the same way about g-shock - it's my go to if it's an outdoorsy trip or a particularly unsafe city.
