You make it sound like vintage quartz isn't some kind of forbidden, cursed tome you must never touch! I've bought plenty of damaged and/or non functioning vintage quartz watches, particularly 7548...
Thanks for all the feedback. I've had some vintage quartz watches repaired before, but then I had a better idea of the damage than just "faulty" and I doubt the seller here would give me a more...
Stumbled over a Monnin-cased quartz diver on Ebay that I liked the look of, although it was sold as faulty. Examining the pictures I can see why, since there seems to be a hole burnt right through...
Thank you everyone who chimed in, seems my instinct was right. A slight bummer, but at least it means I have a little bit of a nose for when things aren't right with an 844.
Thanks, I agree and appreciate the input. I'll try to get in touch with this mr. Blackie you mention to confirm.
After selling my Heuer 844 about 6 months ago I've decided I made a mistake and am now looking for another one. I was offered one on another forum, but I thought I'd check with some outside expertise...
They were also ridiculously affordable on the second hand market up until a few years ago, but they seem to be getting noticeably more expensive on Ebay and similar places.
I thought as much, thanks for confirming.
Here's a similar find that I stumbled across on Ebay. Does anyone know if Ollech & Wajs ever issued this model to armed forces, or did they just swipe the design of the G10 dial for a "regular"...
I currently have a watch with an ETA 2784 movement at a watchmaker for repairs, but there's a risk they won't be able to fix it. It works if I shake it but it doesn't wind, and the crown is very hard...
My favorite band, seen them and Fletch live up towards ten times... Goddamnit.
Psychologist here. I don't work in Britain so I don't know anything about the organizational aspects (costs etc.), but happy to answer any specific questions about the method.
Thanks, I appreciate the advice.
I currently use a Rios 1931 clip on leather strap on my CWC G10, which is decent enough, but I also like the look of CWC's own "premium leather strap":
...
Usually not a fan of two-tone bracelets, but the gold-colored line picks up the details in the dial and hands quite nicely. I think it's the better pick here.
A Sinn 556a that I used to own, looked good on a nato strap but sold it since I didn't get along with the big indices.

Will hopefully receive this G-Shock DW-5000 SL "Spike Lee" tomorrow. It's fairly rare and very close in appearance to the original DW 5000 C, which was Casio's first G-Shock and one of the best...
Watched Tron Legacy, which has excellent visuals and an amazing score by Daft Punk, but never really gets its ducks in a row regarding what story it wants to tell. You'll probably get more out of it...
There are actually tall tales about seamen going insane when sailing over the trench and throwing themselves overboard, desperately swimming towards the bottom until they drown as the realization...
I've owned two (albeit none of them with the PVD case), and they are indeed great watches, reliable, effective, and extremely versatile. My one gripe is that the quartz versions only come with either...
BTW, the Marianas trench is the deepest point on Earth and "only" goes to 11 km, so there's literally no place on the planet where a 1.300 m depth rating would be fully useful! :)

Looks like a cross between Citizen's own "Ecozilla" and the Casio AMW3 "Arnie"-models. Not bad, but I think I prefer Seiko's "Tuna" line in the ridiculously large tool diver segment.
