Trickers, Crockett and Jones and Cheaney are much better quality than barkers/Loake/Grenson/sanders.
AFAIK they don’t outsource any part of manufacturing to India either.
A chap from trickers (when they ran the eBay seconds store) sent me some self adhesive pads to cut in half and put under each side of the lace flaps to add bulk and enable the shoe to tighten fully,...
The George Cleverly ready to wear range (made by Crockett and Jones) have a slim foot, they fit me much better than the trickers 444 last which is very wide. I'm a sidi wearer too so I think they are...
Except your cobbler will not have the last the shoe was originally built with. When you consider a resolve should give you 3-5 years use (if you have other shoes on rotation it's good value. £120...
I have just picked up a pair of George Cleverley ready to wear Henry brogues in brown scotch grain with dainite sole, the last shape is much better fit for me as I have a slim foot, the bourton 444...
or find another £100 and get some redwings or trickers, in the long run you will have a better boot and save money.
Obviously you will try them on but if you see 9-5 inside the boot then it's size 9 and the 5 is the width. It's all written in pen so not always clear what the size is.
There were loads of 9 and 9-1/2 boots in Covent Garden/Charing cross rd TK branches, brown and deep burgundy there was one pair of 8-1/2 in brown which I nearly bought to wear with thick socks but I...

couldn’t agree more.
its very much a British thing though. i went to Milan on a photography job and wore an unstructured suit by Universal works with a decent plain shirt and a pair of deep burgundy...
If you get a leather sole then fit a Topy rubber on them, bit more grip in the winter, I use them because I heel and toe wear through a leather sole in a few weeks and don't want to fit blakeys. I...
They look like they are made in India along with half the grensons and those chapman and Moore/Thomas White from TKMaxx. The thinner soled ones drop in front of the heel as there is no support in the...
Half the range are made in India and don't last anywhere near as long as a pair of trickers. Overpriced IMHO (I have 3 pairs and they are not a patch on a proper Northampton made shoe)
