Also, I forgot to mention that the sapphire came with a gasket that the manufacturer claims will make it water tight

Thank you, it’s not the durability of the hesalite that bothers me, I’m careful with my watches and I have a tube of polywatch, so my crystal is flawless

Hello all
I’m looking for some watchmaker advice.
I have a hesalite speedmaster pro, the bog standard manual wind one. It has sentimental value so I don’t want to sell/exchange it, but the...
Yes like the others have said - you made a purchase from goldsmiths and goldsmiths haven’t delivered it to you. The burden of delivery is on them, not on you.

He said ‘true GMT’ and I believe the older Omegas aren’t true GMT? (Ie they have quick set GMT hand, not quick set hour hand). Correct me if I’m remembering correctly.

Horrible, I’m sorry to hear this. I’m also in Leicester and also returned from a holiday a couple of days ago. It’s always a worry at the back of my mind that I’ll return to something similar.
...
Not exactly South East but there was an Exp 1 in the window of Goldsmiths in Leicester yesterday.

The older 5-digit Rolex dive watches and the current 6-digit ones are so different in terms of size, weight, finish etc that they almost feel like totally unrelated watches. I would try and spend a...
I don't believe the newer micro-adjustable clasps will fit the 2500 bracelet because that uses the older pin and collar to join the links together. I think the newer clasps only fit to the newer...
Sorry I should have specified, I don't own a Planet Ocean, I fitted the clasp to my Speedmaster. I also had to buy the end links to fit the clasp to the Speedmaster bracelet. So I can't give advice...
I bought the 1154 clasp from the Omega Boutique on Regent St and the cost was only £76, so the ones on eBay usually have a large markup on them. I guess you’re paying a premium for convenience.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing, I find it a pleasure to read stories like yours. You should bookmark this post so that you can link back to it in 2028 for the follow up post :)
Sorry this doesn’t answer your questions, but my main bit of advice would be: don’t rush. Do your research before buying anything. If it’s being bought with money left to you (the implication is the...
For about 18 months it was my only watch and I wore it 24/7 - all day, all night, in the shower, etc. It was great and I never had any problems. Think I’ve polished the hesalite twice using polywatch...
This. My stocks and shares ISA, I would not sell for a watch. If I had a cash ISA, I might for a value-retaining Rolex.
I don’t follow a connection to Rolex?
My most accurate is my Sub Date, which gained 4 seconds in total between setting it last autumn for the clock change, and re-setting it last weekend when the clocks changed again.

Just reset my Sub and found it had gained 4 seconds since I last set it for the clock change last autumn. Happy with that accuracy
You managed to walk straight into the shop and pick it up off the shelf?
That 233 is a bit of a beast isn’t it! Seeing as the modestly-sized Reverso is well sized for my wrist, and the Sub and Speedy are the top end of reasonable, I’m not sure I could pull off a Panerai...
Thank you, yes it’s the Reverso Grande Taille (now discontinued) so it’s larger than the classic but by no means big. I chose an early model because of the flat printed dial, which I prefer over the...
Thank you, I will do some googling, though I’ll try to wait a while as I’ll get myself in trouble with my wife if she catches me so soon after giving me the Reverso!
That’s an interesting comment. It’s the icons that have always drawn me and I’ve never been interested in much else, but I’ll give that some thought.
What kind of vintage options did you have in...
I have always wondered about a Navitimer...
