Any chance to ask Seiko in Japan? Might be something they'd be interested to help with. There's a Seiko museum in Tokyo (Sumida), so they might be a good port of call?

Lovely watch, and always a nice feeling to have a watch that's the same age you are. It's when you begin having the feeling the watch is keeping in better nick than we are that it gets worrying!
