I'm not a huge fan of The Missenden Flyer, but stuck this one out to the end.
I don't like the rear fender - looks way too ancient.
But overall - I have to say, BMW have given the bike a very...
I'm not sure - although I discovered that I have shrunk 2" in the last ??? years (I hope it is in the last 10 years and not since 2023!).
I started on the low seat, but then bought the HP seat...
My original 2016 one - I fitted bar-end weights and a low seat before I even rode it, and couldn't discern any unusual vibes through the bars.
No bar vibes on either that or the subsequent 2019...
Out for a short run and a sit in the sun - to St Mary’s Loch. Lots of bikes out and when I counted at one point- 7 out of 27 bikes were BMW GS/GSAs.
Usual bunch of dicks revving fuel-injected...
Even the S1000R has sig better mileage than the MT10.
The XR is a brilliant bike though - I think I have covered around 30,000m on my two ser1 XRs - and haven't seen anything better for what I...
There's not a whole heap of bike - around that engine ! What a beast!
I was tempted by the 1290GT, for the shear grunt of the twin, but played safe with the S1000XR.
I'd love to have a go of one of those Honda CB750s, on a hot summer day - on an easy ride to a cafe.
They are from an era well before my riding 'career', but right at the begining of my interest...
That would be me....................... (not)
Tough choice ! But - I think I'm landing on the side of the FE.
Are the bars and pegs the same on each?
If they ain't the same, I suspect the FE will be more comfortable - as well as being...
I'd not be buying new with £3k difference, with the added bonus of the RS features
Save the money and ride with a smug expression on your face.
Tank respray will only cost £400 max in any...
Don't get me wrong - he's obviously taken to it and enjoying it (for the most part).
10,000 miles in his first 6 months?????
Sure he isn't a deliveroo rider?!
He must have been missing something in his life - to hit that figure in his first year. I suspect he is a biker for...
I think someone has horked up on yer chips there ! :welcoming:
Used to stop at Helmesley enroute to Hull ferry- and have a snackette of a pie. They were pretty decent. Parking was dire,...
You can get Road5 supply only for around £280 in 120/190 just now.
Thought about Conti RA4 (but not at that premium over S22) but I reckon I am doing about 500m/yr on the R-1. They'll be off...
Yeah - my local guy is doing the bridgestones cheaper than many places, but higher on fitting.
I think a place in Edinburgh is good on price, and quoted £35 (around). I like to give this local...
Demontweeks
So - £46 (from) for ride-in/ride out.

There are cheaper and dearer, than...
He isn't a high volume tyre fitter- he is a bike mechanic. I've watched him change others' tyres and it takes him about an hour.
think he charges £60/hr. Add in VAT and disposal...

I was out for a wee 60 mile jaunt today on my R-1. A combination of first run out this year and neuralgia up my arms from psoriasis - and they are aching this...
That's what MY garage was meant to look like ! You're starting to annoy me ! :blue:
:icon_biggrin:
I think if you want that bikini fairing 'look' - it works well to my mind. The BMW R9T Racer does it well also (with some highlighting)
But - overall, yes - I prefer the naked look on that bike.
I must have been lucky or an ace rider (second one was a joke)
1st bike: BMW R1100s BoxerCup Replika - no test ride, sat on it, bought it- love it.
BMW R1200GSA: Not sure I even sat on one...
Thruxton in green looks fantastic (not so sure about the silver/matte grey one)
How's the riding position on the Thruxton, compared to the Street triple?
In the absence of having both of...
Kreiga is good stuff BUT - there are much more cost-effective options now.
Have a look at sportsbikeshop website - they are great to deal with and are generally cheapest around
Don't discount...
