Yes they hold the watch between the lugs to stop it rotating while you unscrew the back or as in the picture you can hold the case in the case clamp.

Yes they hold the watch between the lugs to stop it rotating while you unscrew the back or as in the picture you can hold the case in the case clamp.
They fit between the watch lugs with the strap off, each block has two sizes you just rotate them 180.
