Personally I think the Heuer style deployments are great, I've converted a lot of straps to this style. You can get the perfect sizing and then grip the strap in...

I use this Heuer style clasp (the type that clamps one half of the strap so you dont have holes). This is the 16mm version, but others are available, although 18mm currently out of stock.
