New arrival today:

All three back from a full movement service by Duncan 'The Watch Bloke'. Minty fresh and ready to go.

Was tempted to list them for sale, but need to...

On the SLA015 that I owned for a week or two when you undid the grip across the clasp, if you pushed it back the divers ext opened. Closing it you just pushed it closed you didn't need to do anything...
Another Alpinist joins the growing collection.

Fresh from a service and new battery, should be good to go for the next 10 years.
Looks great on the Black divers strap Wes. You need to get down to the Manchester Ship Canel tonight and put it through its paces.
Just turn that bezel, such solid reassuring clicks - great stuff.
Thanks. It was a bit of a left field purchase for me as I have been collecting Seiko Alpinists, but I had seen it listed on previous occasions and was keen to give it a go. Size wise is fine, I was...

So...
It is the SLA015 from Germany, limited to 200 watches, not 2,000.
To be honest I think it is identical to the Thai Zimbe SLA013. The case back might be slightly different as the Thai issue is part...
Very much a Marmite watch, possibly with a spoonful or two of Bovril added in for good measure. I found an old thread when the watch was released and the number of haters well outnumbered those who...
Lucky you. These have still not arrived in the UK yet. Did you get yours direct from a Seiko boutique or order from one of the Japanese outlets?
Thanks. It was a limited edition of 500 watches released in 2003 and part of the Alpinist Quartz GMT range. The model number is: SBCJ023
Continuing the rare beasts theme:

Definately one of those watches that it is tricky to catch the dial, but here's a head on shot:

You are right of course, but the collector in me is naturally attracted to the Blue one if that is offered at a reasonable price. I believe the last one sold was a NOS full set and was bought by a US...
Thanks Robbie, yes, just a bit under. I think the official measurement is 38.5mm but with the crown guards and crown it does have the feel of a 40mm watch.
Thanks, I agree the SARB015 doesn't get the love it deserves because it looks different to the others, but I think it's a great watch and one that is not easy to find.
What next though? The guy...
Here you go, two generations and a limited edition thrown in for good luck 👍

Thank you Jim, I was quite lucky with the Black and White, they came from the same seller. The Green one is the hard one to find of that trio, which I picked up from buyee.jp the Japanese auction...
Just checked - 50th anniversary limited edition of 1,000 - wait for it...... £3,290.00
I agree about the X - causing a similar issue on the new Alpinists to be released in Jan 2020
Someone posted a pic of this on FB, the SRQ029J1 which according to the poster was only released today and he had been promised the first one by his AD.

Still undecided what to do about the 2020 Alpinists, but in the meantime I can continue to enjoy these fellows from the mid 90s.

Agreed, here's my SAR015. Now if I could track down a SARB013 👍

Very nice indeed. These old SARBs are getting harder to get hold of and the prices of the rarer models are continuing to climb as people look to source one.
Thank you. There were 3 watches in the series released around 2009. The SARB059 has the emeral Green dial and steel bezel, the SARB061 is the same watch with a Black bezel and the SARB063 was the...
