Great fun visiting it every year on the bikes...and he did ok out of...
I go up every year on my bike to collect my rent.

Only 3 Islay malts?
Start with 'simple' basic blends....THEN move on to the malts.
It's an acquired taste.
Start with a half bottle of a nice blend.
Famous Grouse takes some beating for the money...it's neutral in taste, and therefore it's a fairly good reference point.
If you've not done many distilleries or much of Scotland before, consider Oban as a base.
From there, you could drop down the Kintire peninsula and do Campbeltown at the bottom....Islay/Jura from...
