Surely vehicles in that category (albeit in modern terms) sell very well: Hi-Lux, other pickups of all sorts, Patrols, Landcruisers, Shogun/Pajero. I recognise that these vehicles cross categories...
Depends on the use, doesn't it. Only a minority of vehicles need to be armoured for patrol purposes. A general purpose, cross-country utility vehicle doesn't generally need armour and that's the kind...

A utility vehicle. Something the army could and would buy for field use.
What we have is just another shiny SUV. LR already make a load of those.
