Hi Stuart,
Glad it all went well for you - very satisfying isn't it?

Yeah I think I should have waited - just to let everything settle in I guess - but its ok for now.
I never sell my watches on so I don't worry about scratches - part of the watch history.
Not sure...
Nope there is no screw - when you open the back there is a regulator bar.
I've stolen a picture from t'interweb...
Got the lovely Smiths Everest for Christmas. But it was running about 12 seconds fast per day, which for most people I guess is more than acceptable. Having read about the accuracy seen other forum...
oops yes it was milimeters I've amended my post.
Thanks for all your help everyone. Much appreciated.

Hi,
I need some help with a Vintage watch that has been in the family for a good while. Sadly it's not a classic Rolex Submariner or some such.
The watch itself is a Prestex, with a black dial...
My Speedbird III tends to speed up a bit in the cold. Maybe by as much as 5 seconds a day (i.e. going from 2-3 secs to 7-8). Which TBH, on reflection, isn't that much.
Personally, I would keep the SBIII. Why? I think the watch is a better all rounder. You can wear it casual, with a tux etc. The PRS14 not so (IMHO). For me it would only be a weekend wearer. The...
I have to be honest with you, mine fits perfectly. It is the most comfortable bracelet I have worn. In the past watches with bracelets have left bald patches on my wrists - not so here.
You do...
It's not too difficult. I use a small 1mm screwdriver for this. Put the watch crystal side down. Take the end link and put above where it should go. Push one side of the springbar in just so it goes...
When I did mine (Speedbird III) - I had the movement running - and no ill effects here. Though I did notice that the movement needed a bit of a wind up afterwards as it was running slowly.
E.g. I...
It took me some time to get the courage up - but I like tinkering. But no picture can prepare you for how tiny everything is. If you have no magnifying glass then proper light from one source really...
Water resistance not sure. But it should be ok, obviously no guarentes. As for the marks being 6 seconds, going to bow to people being more knowlegable here. In my case I seem to have got it almost...
Yes three marks - you might need to move it more or less depending on how you wear the watch - it varies depending on how long it is lying overnight. So if you never take it off you might need to...
Happy owner of the Speedbird III and like other owners it was chugging away 20 secs to fast a day. I used to regulate it by leaving it crown up overnight. Anyway with the use of blue-tak I managed to...
Noice!!!!
I really like that - good for a weekend warrior. Will have to see about getting one.

Hi, It's not to hard. I use a screwdriver - very small one. Push one side of the pin in and pull the bracelet - that should be enough to "lock it in place". Then push the other side in. If you have...
I have mine on a black Hirsh travellers strap. Looks really classy in a vintage way. Though it is probably going back on the bracelet for a couple of weeks.
Hi, I got one for Christmas and I love it too. I have a black Hirsch Traveller strap for it and that fits without a problem.
I voted for the Original Bracelet but a black leather strap does look really cool.
