She's sort of right. I enjoyed it but it's brain-out nonsense, way removed from the sophisticated thriller it wants to be.
Troll on Netflix is the biggest pile of dog-egg this side of Sharknado. One of those movies I couldn't stop watching, but it's bad.
Freaks on Netflix, hugely greater than its low-budget indie status. The first act is very much "WTF is going on?" but it does a great job of tying up the loose ends without spoon-feeding the viewer....
I watched that pile of trash last week... weirdly loved it. I'll never watch it again but there were some fun moments.
I watched American History X the other night for the first time in about 15 years.
I had this legendary movie in my memory but by God it has aged badly. The 1990s are dripping out of it,...
A Quiet Place.
90 minutes of tension turned up to 11. Brilliant.
I fully expected to grab an hour's nap this afternoon when I took the kids to see Isle of Dogs. F**king fantastic movie!
I know this is a thread for good movies but I have to talk about Brawl in Cell Block 99...
A few positive mentions of it in here piqued my interest so I watched it. And... well... I thought it...
Also watched Logan last night. I'm not a fan of X-Men / superhero movies but I thought it was really quite excellent. Great performance from Jackman, I felt the characters were all nicely padded...
After falling out with the Star Wars series when Star Wars was renamed A New Hope and the Phantom Menace was a steaming pile of dung, I watched Rogue One yesterday, having ignored everything apart...
I bored you all with Baby Driver praise first time out, I've just watched it again and it stands up to a second viewing with ease. Fantastic escapism.
The Battery - Two former baseball players, zombie apocalypse, blah, blah, blah, $6000 budget... weirdly bloody fantastic. A step above its no-budget peers, the no-frills approach only adds to the...
Saw Annabelle Creation last night. As a horror fan I think I have seen pretty much everything the genre has produced and there was nothing new in here but I thought it was a really good fist at...

There was this road rage scrap that got out of control.
Yeah, I agree with that, what I meant was that in its existing form if it had a bigger name it would have received more attention and got the recognition it deserves.
District 9 is a movie that punches way above its weight. It would be a nailed-on classic with proper Hollywood backing and a recognisable "star". A genuine sci-fi gem with a much deeper lesson at...
I didn't quite know what to make of this movie. It was utter crap as a movie; plot, characters, dialogue were all dung. As a warning to the masses as to the dangers of the invasion of privacy that...
My other half said she didn't want to see it, "it definitely isn't my kind of movie", two hours later her type of movie was something else.
It's weird, but it defies being boxed into a nice easy...
Baby Driver. Believe the hype, this is possibly now My New Favourite Movie. I can only describe it as The Fast and the Furious blended with The Notebook and made by the love child of Tarantino and...
