Has there ever, ever, ever, ever been a fight in real life that was like a fight in the movies?!
Realistic probably isnt the right word!
Re-watched Interview with a Vampire this afternoon - despite its detractors I always did and still do really like it.
Going to watch Lars von Trier's Antichrist again shortly... wish me luck!!!
...
I finally just finished Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac vol.1 and felt the same way.
Vol.2 tomorrow!
Not wanting to sound like a cliché, but the book is (I think) better than the film.
I believe the book and screenplay were written side-by-side at the same time, which is unique.
I stumbled...
Currently making my way through Nymphomaniac Vol. 1, and Vol 2. after that.
Le Tour has meant July has been a busy month with no real film-time.
Anyway, it's surprisingly accessible for Lars...
If so, then I never want to see it!
Have watched a great many films recently, but not posted in this thread in a while, but I really enjoyed this;
The Lost City of Z

HTJI.
Keep up the good work, Steve!
Deadpool - everything about the trailer made me hate it, and made me cringe.
But Mark Kermode (via the awesome Wittertainment podcast) said it was actually ok - and I do trust his criticism - so I...
Continuing my Werner Herzog theme (yes, I have the Box Set of his films!)
IMDb - Aguirre: The Wrath of God
The Guardian - Aguirre: The Wrath of God - #11 best brthouse film of all time
The worst thing is that you did it with your own free will!

The Big Short - very disappointing!
Just back from this. Night & day between the very average film and the incredible book it is based upon.
It's a subject I am very interested and well read...
This popped up on Netflix - about 45 mins in (at Jack Rabbit Slim's diner) - had forgotten how good it was!
Must be 10 or 15 years since I last saw it.
...
Was keen to see this on the big screen, by my local multiplex with who I have a monthly pass wouldnt screen it, and I dont fancy paying £9 + £3 parking to go to the next town to watch it. Yes, I am...
Fancy posting me the DVD? (unless you watched it via streaming, of course!)
+1!
Skyfall is far better*, but then if we all had the same opinions the world would be rather boring!
*and I saw Skyfall on DVD only and Specte in the cinema
You're welcome - I find great satisfaction in finding a great (if obscure) film and then being able to share my enthusiasm!
I am getting more and more into foreign language film in the last few...
Watched this last night on your recommendation - very much enjoyed it, though I thought the narrative was a little confusing at times, and they could have madebetter use of "infographics" to show...
I've had the BFI Herzog collection sat on my shelf for over a year - finally cracked it open yesterday to watch Nosferatu... now which next??!
Werner Herzog's 1979 "Nosferatu: The Vampyre"

We have similar tastes!
1) (Revenant) saw it last night - LOVED IT!
2) (Big Short) read the book few years ago & really, really enjoyed it, so am looking forwards to the film despite hearing...
Is that still on UK Netflix? I do like a good documentary feature!
The Revenant
Outstanding performances all around, but go well wrapped up as you will feel cold just watching it!!
