For travailing and when you just need a quick shave I use a company called 'Cornerstone' who do mail order razors, they are mach3 in type but have a separate single blade built in for beard trimming....

DE shaving is probably going to give you more not less irritation, it’s a learning curve and one I found once mastered still wasn’t better than a Mach3!
That said I still enjoy the odd Sunday shave...
