That bikes redder than a red thing. The solvol must last you ages, whereas the car polish….. looking forward to photos of the big K.
My pal has just bought a breathed on model 230 bhp. On his first ride out from Yorkshire upto Whitby it ran out of fuel. He couldnt believe the thirst of the beast. And thats coming from a ZZR1400 complete with power commander.

I`m going to view a motorbicycle tomorrow (Sat) with a view to presenting monetary offerings to the owner in exchange for ownership.
My current insurance requires renewal on Tuesday.
I contacted my insurers today to get a quote on adding the potential new bike to my policy if i decide to purchase which they could do no problem of course but they are not open on a Saturday which is a bit af a showstopper.
So it looks like i may need insurance for one day.
Has anyone used and can recommend any temporary insurance companies when faced with this sort of predicament?
I could leave the seller with a deposit and collect next week some time when i`ve renewed my current policy and added the new bike but it`s a 150 mile round trip and would rather endure the delights of the A34 just the once.....
Had one exactly the same a couple of years back, I fitted a footrest lowering kit and raised bars, after which it fitted me perfectly/ great bike, mine had the Lazer end cans and chip
I’ve previously owned the boxer cup replica in red white and blue also, wish I’d kept that one, I bought it off Pembers of this parish….

I have BMW F900xr with all the toys for sensible mileage and behaviour but the secret weapon is also in the garage (Husqvarna 701 enduro) for “more focussed” rides. Adorable, grumpy motorcycle that make me grin like a fool every time I take it out- it’s got 80/20 tyres and a comfort seat but so much more bike than I am rider, it’s a lot of fun but to be respected…all 135 kg of it
I really like some of the older Husqvarna models too, especially the sm610 and Nuda 900
Looks great, and one of the best paint-schemes. Only BMW would get away with that!
I've said it many times- on UK twisty roads, they are a very fast, capable bike, and will surprise a lot of the sportsbikes. It's only when folk venture into the 'license-endangering' speeds of 90+, that they might get away on the straights.

It was £25 to have the bike added to my current policy until renewal day on the 15th, and only an extra £20 quid more on my premium to have the potential new bike added for the whole year!
I had a spin around part of Kent, yesterday.
I'm glad I was on the bike as it makes traffic jams much more tolerable, not that there were any on many of the roads I was on :onthego:

300 mile round trip to Barmouth for some fish and chips at lunch time. It's not quite that far away but I didn't go straight there and I didn't come straight back.
Following on from my 'uncomfortable seat' post a few days ago - I tried a pair of cycling shorts which have improved things significantly.

Barmouth is my destination of choice weather permitting. Which chippy do you use, the one sort of on the harbour near the Last Inn, or the one nearer the arcades. i use the harbour one but have often wondered what the other one is like?. I may venture that way on Sunday actually as it looks like it will be nice and warm.

I think I’ll be scooting solo tomorrow to Barmouth, my usual ride buddies have family commitments. Stop at Bala then on to Barmouth and the Harbour chippy, fish n chips on one of the benches by the harbour [emoji106]

Had my suspension setup Today by a specialist. First time for me. It's made the world of difference.
I was falling out with the bike beforehand if I'm honest. I've had a couple of moments breaking coming into a corner when the front forks compressed and the bike didn't want to turn.
He wasn't particularly complimentary about the factory suspension components and reckoned I needed to junk them for some better stuff but for now it feels really good.
Looking forward to trying it out properly at the weekend.
Any member own a KTM Super Duke GT or general experience with KTM,s I’ve owned Ducati’s for the last 12 years and currently have a 1269 Multistrada, great trouble free bike but fancy a change so will be selling it shortly (subtle plug)and the GT is calling me, just waiting on a test ride before deciding, any helpful feedback would be great

Keeping the front forks compressed actually helps with turn in. That’s why racers trail brake. When you release the brake, the front comes up and you run wider.
Are you suggesting you completely ran out of travel on the front forks? Even on track, when you brake very hard, you should still have 5mm left.
If the front forks being compressed helps with turn in then I am probably just a terrible rider.
Basically, I'm pretty heavy and the bike was setup soft so the weight transfer made the forks compress lots. This made me feel like the bike just wanted to plough straight on.
The way I was trying to ride around it is by breaking with both the front and back brakes and then coming off the front first for a second which was all well and good but there was just a lot of vertical movement.
The guy reckoned that the stock suspension on 90% of bikes is rubbish and me being heavier than normal just magnifies it.
I (still) have a 1290 Super adventure "T" and find 165bhp all I need in a trail bike. Inmoto lent me a Superduke GT for a few days whilst waiting for a fuel pump replacement on my T (this failure was a known issue that was overlooked at PDI). I was amazed how quickly the GT spun up and how quickly I might loose my licence on one! Either bike makes my R9T feel comfortably "sedate".
Should anyone fancy a 2500mile Unit Garage Urban GS with full Paris Dakar kit (including full Ohlins forks, shock and para) or said 2017 1290 KTM SA with similar mileage PM me, I seem to confine what little riding I do to my classics nowadays
They’re talking about good suspension and good, experienced riders on track.
Back in the real world, you don’t want suspension so soft that it bottoms out under braking or you’re just going to be pogoing whilst turning into a corner. Suspension set up for your weight will improve your confidence no end, the bike will feel much more stable.
Suspension on any road bike, even super bikes, is built to a budget and not absolute top quality stuff. Proper top quality stuff can cost tens of thousands. That said, most modern suspension is of decent quality but will obviously vary with the price of the bike. Any bike’s suspension can be improved by throwing money at it but for us mere mortals, on the road, spending £600 or so on, say, hyper pro springs and shock absorbers is probably more than enough if set up correctly.
Dave 63 Two years ago I invested £1050 in Wilbers remote preload rear and progressive fork springs fitted and set up for my weight plus my missus on my F650GS. It represented 50% of the trade in when I part exed the bike.
Would I do it again , too right, the planted feel of bike, the ability to track a corner not be pushed out, the reduction in anti dive on the forks. I genuinly thought they had bled my brakes, it was that night and day.
They say good suspension is worth 10 to 15 bhp all day long.
Ive just bought a new seat for the GS and the finger is poised on new susses’s next.

Yes he said putting a shock on the back (maybe a Nitron) and a cartridge kit on the front would transform the bike for around £1k
If I was going to keep it I might do it but I'm not sure at the moment.
It feels measurably better now but he's basically jacked the preload and the rebound up as close as he can to max.
So although it feels miles better in the corners it feels 'busy' riding around.
Agreed - equally, you don't want the suspension so hard that the bike gets twitchy on corners if there is any imperfection in the road surface. Suspension properly set up for the weight of the rider (and luggage/pillion) can transform a bike's handling and ride comfort/confidence. Suitable tyres and correct pressures will also help.
The Thruxton R leaves the factory with fully adjustable, race quality suspension - Showa on the front, and Ohlins on the back. I've pretty much adopted the standard settings as per the manual and the bike has always felt completely planted, no matter what I'm doing with it (and I do ride quite aggressively sometimes). The truth is, though, that I'm too inexperienced to know how much better it could be if I had it professionally set up.
Whilst your bike may have Showa and Ohlins Tony, and it’s undoubtedly decent suspension, don’t ever be fooled into thinking it’s anywhere near race quality.
Having said that and as mentioned previously, race suspension is not designed for the road and would be a nightmare to live with. Even a suspension set up for road racing would be uncomfortable on the road at ordinary speeds.
I’ve got new Hagon shocks on the back of my xjr1300 but my newest other suspension component is from 2005. I’ve some 99/2000 RWU front ends (Zx9r and R6) and will probably treat them to updated springs and heavier oil if/when I put them to use.

I did a solo scoot to Barmouth last Sunday, usual stop at Rhug and Bala lake on the way. Fish chips n peas from the Harbour Fish Bar. top stuff as expected. Just sat on the benches by the harbour for an hours relax before heading home. I also took in a quick stop by Trawsfynydd on the way back. I'd forgot how peaceful and tranquil that place was, must be years since I stopped there. A lovely day out.

This is probably a combination of 'help me with my thinking' and 'save me googling' but...
Mrs MCH is doing her CBT a week in Tuesday and once she has it I want to give her the mighty YBR125. Coincidentally both tax and insurance renew in July so I'll just stop those and she can get her own. Do I need to do anything with the V5 or can I remain the registered keeper?
The main reason for this is that with our cars we've ended up with both in my name and I don't want to end up like that with bikes.
