And then people got surprised about MRSA and other nasties.

I think you’ll find it lives on the surfaces of brand new jeans that sit in shops being touched by hundreds of customers too. There’s an article somewhere that a California chemistry student did that found no more germs on 2 year old unwashed pair he owner than that of the high street new.
Understanding the cult or pleasure of breaking raw denim is hard but if you get it you get it.
I can fully understand the desire of high quality denim, makes sense to me.
I just don’t like the idea of not washing them.

Cheers - the first attempt most definitely wasn't :)
I actually really enjoyed doing it and really like the looks than can be achieved, so I'm looking forward to having some more wear patches/holes to repair. I like the idea that the jeans become more unique and wear their wear with pride!
My Hiut WorkR have just had their first wash, had them for a few years, but for various reasons they have never had that much wear so over the last few weeks I've pretty much worn them anytime I am able to. Was planning to wear them everyday for a few weeks before washing, but my three year old decided that they looked like a good place to wipe her chocolately fingers, so into the bath tub they went!
Will post some before and after pics soon to see what kind of first fades we get.
If you want some tough jeans then get iron heart, they are very expensive however
I just have bog standard Levi's 501's as the are the only ones that seem to fit me reasonably well. Funnily enough I had to return a pair today - the rivet on the fly came apart. Only had these ones a few months and worn them perhaps half a dozen times. When they fade, I use them for work. My main problem with jeans is I tend to wear them out around the knacker area - it’s not like I go commando either!
Just a heads up really for anyone in or around Manchester with a beat up pair of Nudie jeans, the Nudie repair team will be at a little independent shop called Steranko, Burton Road, West Didsbury, tomorrow and Saturday. Repairs are free so a great chance to put a bit of life into your old favourites!
I’ve no link with either the shop or Nudie.
[QUOTE=njr911;5221895]I've just had mine repaired when it was in Harrogate. Brilliant service![/QUOTE
Great to hear that thanks!
Mine were first in the shop for repair, unfortunately they piled all the ones that came in after on top of them so are now last. Such is life.
A pair of iron hearts arrived today, very well made and the 555 cut really works for me. I went with the 14oz but my try a pair if the heavyweight options next time.
Just bought a pair of jacob cohens I normally have 7 for all mankind bought these for a changehttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f8aa47457e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7f6b2d7e7e.jpg

Yup that’s them, they are fairly true to size but expecting the waist to stretch a little. They have been shortened and chain stitched. A very modern slim fit for selvedge denim, and much nicer in the seat for me than Nudie grim Tim.
If you looking to buy and can’t get to a stockist try the uk webstore as they will advise on best model and sizing for you.
Rivet & Hyde stock them and will provide sound advice I’m sure.
Rivet and Hide even.
I could never afford these 25oz Samurai but I'd love to give them a go, they must be the ultimate denims:

I have a pair of Nudie Steady Eddie that I bought around three years ago (maybe longer) and I've kept them for 'good'. I only wear them when I'm going out-out so they've hardly been worn :(
They've only been washed once and that was because they got a dirty mark I couldn't get out any other way. I'll dig them out tonight and post a pic. If they still fit I'll start wearing them as my daily pair and see how they fade.
EDIT: Result, they fit! My not so new daily wearers....

Ooo can we all have a get together in Soho?!
I'll wear my boots and we can test the dept rating on the marine master while I master your marrow [emoji2]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...687892c65d.jpg
I’ve a couple of pairs of cohens, they’re head and shoulders above 7 for all mankind’s which i also have. Expensive but if you get them in the sale there not that crazily priced. Flannels usually have some at a price worth paying.

I believe Cone Mills has now ceased production.
Found them, see post #282 :eagerness:
I would have thought cone mills were thriving under the uptake demand for their denim, being the last US producer.
Tellason make a great pair of jeans, surprised they are not more popular over here. I picked mine up in Iron and resin in Ventura. Great store and worth a stop if you are ever up that way.
Very interesting reading that, thanks for posting.
Uniqlo selvedge is brilliant for the dough
These look interesting. British selvedge denim woven in Lancashire.
