Train question London Standsted to Southampton

Looking to go from Stansted to Southampton on the 27th of this month.

Plugging my day and time in here

Gives me the below option.

09:30 Stansted Airport to 10:32 London Liverpool Street

Take the Tube from London Liverpool Street to London Waterloo

11:35 London Waterloo South Western Railway 13:00 Southampton Central

1) Does it seem a straight forward enough option or is there a better one that not on the trainline?

2) If I purchase from the trainline I assume I get a printout of some sort. Is this my actual ticket ticket or do I have to some ridiculous exchange for tickets at a desk first(i.e. at stanstead first, then again at the London liver street then again at waterloo) slowing the entire process?

The train bits make sense to me. As it is a Bank Holiday w/e you will need to check what tube lines are running as they like to do works on these kind of dates. I guess you probably want to go central line to Tottenham Court Road and then Northern line down to Waterloo. Normally trains tickets are print at home via a pdf attachment or on your phone. A lot of the time it is a QCR code. I rather do that than collect at the station. You may also be able to include the tube part but that would need a non print at home proper ticket I think. I’ve found using the actual train company websites avoids the card fees Trainline charge in most cases. You can use them to book any train just like Trainline does anyway.

I would say that is the most sensible route.

I would suggest Central Line to Bank and then Waterloo and City line to Waterloo. Shouldn't take more than about 30 mins.

I think thetrainline.com can give you mobile tickets, tickets to print or you can collect tickets from the station. You will need an old fashioned paper ticket for the tube barriers though (assuming it is included on your journey)-not sure whether they say that when you choose how to get your ticket?

Edited as above poster has pointed out the journey is a Sunday!. No W+C line. Also in reference to the above, no Northern line between Charing Cross and Hamstead so your journey will become a PITA. Central to Bank, Circle to Embankment and then Bakerloo/Northern to Waterloo.

There is a coach from Stansted to Waterloo might be convenient if luggage.

It's the way I would go, and indeed will be the first week in June.

On a Sunday with no trains on the Drain and other possible Tube closures I’d just opt for an Addison Lee between Liverpool Street and Waterloo and save myself the hassle of a PITA journey.

I thought there might be works. Probably then Central to Bank. Northern to London Bridge. Jubilee to Waterloo. It is one of those slight pita connections tbh. Or just get an Uber!

Edit: The Tottenham Hale route is a good shout too but again there is no Northern line on the day. So you'd need to stay on the Victoria line to Oxford Circus and then Bakerloo to Waterloo or stay on another stop to Green Park and then Jubilee to Waterloo. Should be fun :-) The Victoria/Bakerloo line change at Oxford Circus is a dead easy cross platform change too - just remembered.

Unfortunately that part of the Northern Line is closed that day. The Tottenham Hale suggestion is a very good one though, forgot about that!

In which case, go on the Stansted Express to Tottenham Hale, change to Victoria line to Green Park and then Jubilee to Waterloo. Bit of a walk through Green Park station but otherwise minimal walking (I have done all parts of that journey with some degree of luggage).

Uber as mentioned still probably quicker and easier though!

I would be confident enough on the tube but think I will take the taxi from LLS to waterloo! Keep it simple with the bags!
