Given how iconic the P1800 became in the original television series, I'll be interested to see what they have 'The Saint' driving this time round.

My money would be on a Tesla.
Probably something PC like a Prius
Eagle low drag GT......... If he could get me out of it!
Surely no less than an MX-5?
A sports car that is not a sports car. GT86?
I seem to remember that S.T. drove a Volvo because he did not get an Aston.
I would suggest an Alfa Romeo, possibly a Guiletta, not too sporty but beautiful and capable...

Apparently in the Charteris books he drives a Hirondel. (No I hadn't either.) - http://www.saint.org/volvo.htm
Last time he drove a white XJS, didn't he?
A Friend of mine has just had a full rebuild on the same car,Looks superb too.
I think a white Alfa 4C Would be the one.

The Hirondel of the Saint books was a fictional, but expensive, and powerful, four seater. It's a French sounding name and its value and specification would put it on a par with a 1930's Bentley, Rolls or Bugatti. He was often accompanied by his various associates - so he needed 4 seats.
So, what's today's equivalent of that, rather than of the pretty but not especially powerful Volvo P1800? (As an aside, my grandparents, before either the Bond movies or the Saint TV series came out, had an Aston DB4, and a Volvo P1800, respectively). I'd suggest that it has to be something large, beautiful and powerful, as well as expensive. This guy is a successful and wealthy gentleman thief, not an East End gangster with a modern MkII Jag.
Modern equivalents? How about one of these?
Porsche Panamera
Aston Martin Rapide
Maserati Quattraporte
Ferrari FF
Mercedes CLS
A Ducati
It'll be interesting to see casting and to see how the characters relate to each other. There's never been a Patricia Holm (the Saint's girl) in the series, I vote Lucy Verasamy for that, and the relationship between the Saint and CI Teale has to be on par with with Poirot and Japp.
As for cars I'd go for Maserati.
A white F-Type R Coupe. Surely.
Two jokey ideas on the "ST" front:
Ford Focus ST.
Subaru Impreza WRX STi.
Bentley Continental
M.
I really hope they build that coupe! Gorgeous styling - kisses of American muscle cars, BMWs and modern Jags in there but so recognisably Scandiwegan. Love it!
The Return of the Saint starring Ian Ogilvy did indeed feature a Jaguar XJ-S.

Jaguar, having apparently turned down a request for an E-Type to use in the original were not going to get caught out again.
The eponymous film made in the late nineties starring Val Kilmer, which shared little other than the name with the television series or the books, featured a Volvo C70.

Val Kilmer's performance was nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award, but he was narrowly beaten by Kevin Costner in The Postman.
And just so there is some relevance to this forum, bvlgari did a special edition to coincide with the film.

Is that true? I didn't mind that film.
The Kilmer one was bizz, I might still have a few limited edition promotional postcards produced by Volvo from that film - I think I went to the NEC Motor Show that year.
Anyway, back on topic - it should be a Volvo or a Jag really, the vision was always to have him in a white Jag, but after failing to get their hands on an e-type that Volvo really suited the character.
Anything quirky anyway. It would be a travesty to have The Saint in a little mid-size runabout.
A Volvo P1800 with over a million miles on it?

F Type.
