Check out a square. The pics may not take you, but they just feel right on the wrist. Stick a metal bezel on (or buy a fancy metal one) and you're golden :encouragement:
I think you need to check the history books on that one! :playful:

I'd go with Casio as well. I used to get them - they were highly innovative with digital watch functions with quality that could be relied upon.
Now the innovation has gone and the quality is so-so in most of their offerings. But they do have some nice limited editions.

I do get the feedback on Panerai. I own 1 (PAM 111), and can’t see why you would have more than 1 but…the design is quite iconic and at least for me, is my most appreciated watch.

Richard Mille
3D printed bling for sports personalities, Rappers, and people with zero taste.
I just cannot develop an affection for omega. Nice watches but just leave me cold.

Ok one more from me and I am prepared to get a good kicking for it but here it goes…
DAMASKO
I should love everything about them, they are similar to Sinn, hard wearing robust no nonsense German tool watches.
But I can’t stand the font they use, stupid I know but god it is awful in my opinion and as such the entire brand leaves me cold.
They are fantastic well made watches but I will stick with Sinn.
ANONIMO
Just something about the style and logo that does nothing for me.
Oris and Bremont.
IWC did the same didn’t they? It was still a great watch
I thought I didn't like PP until I went to a GTG and realised that wearing one is different.
AP don't really do anything for me - I certainly don't understand the appeal.
Another one. I feel like I’ve missed out on the whole Ming hype.
Modern Rolexes other than the 36mm explorer. 20+ year old or so Rolexes I do get.
One observation, looking through this thread, is that between us we "don't get" just about every brand. That's quite an achievement. But then if we had a thread about the brands that we "do get", then we would find that we got them all as well. So between us we don't get them all and we do get them all. This is getting silly. I'm off to bed.
Bremont and Tudor. I really want to like Tudor. I keep looking at them even wanting to like them. But something just doesn't gel with them for me. Bremont just make me think of AVI-8, I just can't help it.
Panerai
Richard Mille
Not so much a brand but a style. The whole "Integrated bracelet sports watch" Thing. So you really want to pay a fortune for a watch that basically restricts you to one style and looks like a 70s reject?
it's a valid point and is simply an indicator that we all have different tastes.
However, I also think this thread has slightly drifted away from what the OP intended. The point of the thread was about watches that we know are high quality and appealing to most but that we don't personally 'get' without any justified reason. A lot of the posts have started describing reasons why we don't like certain brands as opposed to reasons we can see why other people like the brands but we just can't quite fathom it for ourselves.
That was the main driver but I really can’t see the point of inserting a piece of something not related to the watch. In the example of the Wright Flyer by Bremont, it doesn’t make the watch more accurate or functional or even better looking!
It doesn’t add anything IMO although I realise this is about brands I/whoever “don’t get” and others may get it and fair play to them!
Oris, Casio, Damasko, Christopher Ward, Konstantin Chaykin & most APs.
AP especially the offshore. I am sure very well made but look like they had the same design team as Invicta.
Moser. Likewise very well made but for slightly different reasons, I just find them irritating the whole brand and image they try and give.
It's a fair point although the better looking point of view is obviously in the eye of the beholder. Looking from a different perspective you could of course say the same about vintage watches. There are a lot of collectors of vintage watches, walking through places such as Burlington Arcade you see a lot of vintage watches but I'm sure in many cases they're not comparable with a modern watch. That could even be a point of view of mine for this thread. I can see many reasons why people collect vintage watches but it doesn't interest me at all. From the opposite perspective, having an artefact embedded in a watch, in an aesthetically pleasing way, appeals to me but I can understand why it wouldn't appeal to some, including yourself.
Panerai for me. I just find the designs unappealing...big, clunky, ugly looking things. Not too keen on most Breitlings either...too much going on.
Christopher Ward.
Illogical because I’ve never seen one except in photos and certainly never tried one on, and yet I’ve decided I don’t like them.
Perhaps I need therapy [emoji2957].
Simon
Christopher Ward, just don’t do it for me.
The two oddballs for me are Rolex and Patek Philippe.
With PP, whilst not true of every model, almost every time I see one the dial looks incredibly flat and dull and the date wheel never seems to actually line up on the middle of the window (Aquanaut every time).
I’ve only seen and handled a couple in real life but so far I haven’t seen anything to change my mind. However, I seem to be in a minority here and I’m not sure what I am missing.
Rolex I just don’t like the designs but that I can understand.
I always had the same feeling towards the brand. No heritage, poor logo etc. and watches that in the past didn’t look great
But, they have significantly upped their game in the last 2 years.
Bought a super compressor in the sale last year and was so impressed I’ve bought 3 more different watches in the sales. You can have a lot of fun with little money.
For a £500ish watch in the sale, quality is superb and up there with watches 3 to 4 times the price.
Swiss movement, micro-adjust bracelet, ceramic lumed bezel, AR sapphire and 5 year warranty. And I think they have some handsome watches now.
Lose your inhibition, buy one in the sale and if you don’t like it return it for free under the 60 day guarantee.
Buying in the sale also means you’ll lose not a lot when you come to flip.
I only have three....
Rolex, Tudor, and Rolex Wannabee's.
Ming and Audemars Piguet.
BRM - looks like the designer was 'paid per hole'

My brand bug bears are
Breitling- just too blingy and trying too hard
Hublot - Just what are they?
Breitling. Couldn’t stand them at all…..until their heritage range.
Bremont. I like the idea of a British watchmaker but the appropriation of military heritage sits uncomfortably and the designs don’t stand out for me.
I don’t like Panerai but I do ‘get’ them. I can see why other people might like them.
Richard Mille for me. Everything that’s wrong with the current watch market. A bastard child of the vulgarisation of society. What a watch would look like if Willy Wonka put it through an Instagram machine. Bought by people who stick sparklers in bottles of champagne and have sex with their colour coded ‘sneaker’ collections.
Bremont for me. Marketing issues aside, I can listen to lots of enthusiastic people explain why like them but I’ve not seen one that I would buy and I don’t get the hype. The same applies to Hublot except I’ve made no effort to take a closer look at them!
Corum when will the bubble burst
Graham probably one of the ugliest watch brands
Bremont everyday is new limited edition day
Hublot apart from the original big bang just a brand for wanna be rappers and nearly good footballers
Richard mille do most get stolen and supplied to Russian gangsters than actually worn

Rolex for me - The hype, the AD 'experience', the dreary, decades old designs that are lauded as 'classics', the blinged up classics that looked far better before 'updating', the hokey marketing (how long before they claim to have had the first watch on the moon?), the two tones, a few truly horrible designs that people would laugh at with any other name on the dial (blue and brown Daytona, Clownmaster II, for example) and (I have to admit) for me, the association with red braced 80's 'city boys'.
I get the Sub is a classic, absolutely, but they've lost their way IMO. I wanted to love the Daytona, but it was a disappointment when I saw one up close.
That said, I always admire the look of the Milgaus - If you put a gun to my head and made me buy one, it'd be one of those.
The rest leave me cold.
M
richard Mille although I can see the design but the cost and the look does nothing and that certainly applies to Hublot. Just vile. The newer Rolex in the way Snowman says. yet they did get it right (for me) with the Oyster perpetual with those nice dials or the Datejust with the Wimbledon Green dial. Breitling - how many times can you design a Chronograph (and do pilots even wear them?) but I like their bracelets and the Super Ocean on a milanese.
HYT - I mean, I'm sure from a technical viewpoint they are up there, but they just pass me by.
Laco - love a lot of the designs but wish they would put a better movement in than that bog standard stuttering miyota.
