Real world problems - 8.5" wrists Grrrrrrrrrr

Ive just secured a very nice 116300 and was excited as a child at Xmas when the postman arrived this morning - unfortunately its just too small and Im going to need to make a trip to St James to source an extra link.

I had similar issues with a birth year oyster quartz and sourced an extra link and similar experience when when I tried on a perpetual 11600m dial in a AD previously and it actually put me off the purchase.

The beauty of the SD50 and latter subs is the adjustment in the clasp which is a god send and so Im left feeling a bit like Im some sort of freak of nature???

Im guessing there must be loads of people with links lying around unloved from there purchases doing nothing and as such would it be too much to reduce the cost or have retailers keeping excess stock around for such instances???

Anyway Im delighted with the watch but gutted Ive now got to get another link sourced before I can have it on display, its a beautiful, classic piece and I look forward to posting pictures of it on my wrist in due course

Yes, sitting unused (for my Sub and Exp 2), but definitely not going to let a retailer keep them as they don't exactly reduce the price of the watch for those with smaller wrists!

You bought this from an AD. Just call them and ask for the two complimentary links that are offered by most manufacturers when you purchase a watch. With it being "pre-owned", they may not be so willing but you can only ask.

While my wrist is smaller than your freakish unnatural limb diameter, the problem I find is some smaller size Rolex on a bracelet don’t actually open up wide enough to go over my fist. Then if I make the bracelet long enough it is slightly loose on the wrist - glide lock needed.

Thanks for the heads up - I did call but its not a service Rolex offer anymore so I'm going to have to buy additional links at £56 a pop

You could try asking one of the used watch specialists - they may have some, or a want to buy.

Haywood has listings on his site for spare links, might be worth checking out. I have also seen Watchfinder listings on e-bay for genuine links that they systematically remove from watches before selling.

Tuck your thumb under your outstretched fingers and maybe even slightly tuck your pointer and little fingers under as well – as if you were making a shadow puppet duck's bill. Now elegantly slide your watch on to your wrist. Works like a charm. :smile-new:

Are you the opposite sort of freak to the OP who has huge wrists and dainty little hands, where you have coal shovels for hands and breadsticks for wrists.

I have a similar problem to the op - I think it’s the width of my palm. I went to a gtg in the summer and couldn’t try on a single watch there on a bracelet as they wouldn’t go over my hand. No idea what my wrist size is, but for an old 16610 submariner date I just keep all the links fitted, max out the micro adjustments on the clasp and it fits just right. Very odd as I’m not remotely huge but clearly have large wrists and hands. Either that or most wis have wrists like twiglets? [emoji23]

Yes, when I do that the max diameter a bracelet needs to open to go over the knuckles plus the lumpy but of muscle near the thumb measures 11 inches. Then down to a 7.5 inch ish wrist.

Similar problem here. Mainly why I ended up with a Hulk when I compared it to a Milgauss on my wrist. I liked both, but I could actually fasten the Hulk. No chance with the Milgauss even with a full bracelet.
