Prestons I'll wager....?

Odd, I went into Goldsmiths in Liverpool a few months back and they let me try several on. There was nothing for sale, so I suppose it helped the guy pass half an hour.
Well that was my thought. We’re both here, the watches are here, neither of us have anything else to do, why not just let me try on the watches?
Nope. You must prove your dedication to going on the list by going away and coming back at a time that suits the AD so that they might honour you with an opportunity.
It’s fine, like I said, I’m not really looking to buy anyway and I was expecting a slightly snooty shopping experience but that was a bit much.
Pretty sure AD's are getting the same amount of watches to sell as previous years. Don't feel sorry for the staff –*the grey dealers are getting plenty of new stock, it's got to be coming from somewhere. Staff are making their commission and a little bit extra too.
Hot watches from 2022 are being offered on Facebook groups like there’s no tomorrow. They must be coming from somewhere!
I think some very mean comments about ADs here. They are lovely people and doing their level best to delight the enthusiast with the watch of their dreams.
Or a 'suitable alternative' :playful:
This is what I got from my local AD a few months back when trying for the super in-demand (apparently) 34mm OP... I didn't make a follow up appointment with this particular AD.

I’m collecting my long awaited white face SS Daytona tomorrow so I think they are lovely people.

I think it wears too small on my chunky wrists, but I’ll put up with it.
Nice, I’m waiting for the same one - it was the first Rolex I wanted and I’ve still never owned a white dial ss daytona.
An AD told me that there was a 10 year wait list and they aren’t even taking registers of interest any more. I get the impression these watches are very few in production and only go to people who buy the full gold Rolex watches.

PSA: 1967 1016 Explorer for sale at James Usher Lincoln. No papers from what I understand.
No affiliation, just a a heads up if anyones looking.
Have been asked by my old boss where to get a sub as he knows I like watches. Replied saying not much hope unless through grey market or buying other models while he waits, reading this thread shows I wasn’t wrong!
Market Cross jewellers today had around 50 Rolex in their window display and every single one of them was reduced. Times are changing. Has the bubble burst?
Prices are definitely softening but still above retail from my enquires to the trade when considering selling a Green Bezel Submariner.
Went through LHR T5 at the weekend. One Ladies DJ 28mm actually for sale in the WoS Rolex Boutique.
Plenty of exhibition watches of course including a Submariner Date Bluesy, a Deep Sea, Sea Dweller and a Daytona of some description (I didn’t take much notice of it)
Was very taken with the Sea Dweller though. Salesman was keen to check if I have WoS purchase history (I don’t). He asked if I flew regularly (not much since retiring) and suggested that I build some history in their other shop buying maybe a Longines for around a grand, a Tissot for £300, a Tudor for a couple of grand etc and then maybe I’d be able to be on the list for a Sports Rolex. An SD might be acquired after around six months wait. But I’d need to agree a date within seven days of receiving the call and book a flight etc to get there

Last time I enquired about a Rolex at my local AD I was told they were no longer adding any names to lists irrespective of model.
You can imagine my surprise when 2 years later I’ve just received a call offering me the watch I initially enquired about.
My friend got a call for a James Cameron today. I think they are churning through lists at the moment. Great news for him.
