^^^ The big guns are coming out now...
I understand it is Scotland's second 540. I was. Lose to ordering a 570 but did a factory visit and the guys at the factory said the 540 was a better bet as a daily and having now had the benefit of driving both I'd agree. 540's suspension is far nicer and honestly, the extra 30-odd bhp isn't noticeable, in my hands at least.

Thank you sir.
Yeah well, I may be getting a Golf for £3k. Beat that
Says the man with Audi! Beautiful cars you behave anyway. At risk of sort of going off topic (but this IS watch forum) what kind of watch does the driver of that monster wear on his wrist?
There's a lot to be said for a £3k golf though. IMO at least.
Something a little more subtle...

We just got a Q3 but I need a run around. Just worried I'll buy s shed!
Lovely watch, amazing cars. I doff my cap to you!!
An RS4, a McClaren and a Patek.
But are you really happy? Really?
(I suspect the answer is yes!)
Pic(k)s of the RS4 too please!
I really hope my mate Soundood doesn't have a Gif for that!
What colour is the 540c please?
Fantastic! Did I read that you are around Glasgow or was it collected in Glasgow? If the former, don't be surprised if a large baldy 40 something man jumps in front of you waving, acting like a kid in a sweet shop shouting"it's me off the watch forum". Would make my day to see such a car.

I must admit I never really felt able to contribute to this (unless you want to see a perfectly fine E91 320i that I picked up at over 100k miles). However after months, nay years, of persuading by the wife, we've just purchased this rather fine specimen of a campervan:

Certainly not the fastest of drives (although it's in fact powered by a 2006 water-cooled VW engine), but puts quite a smile on your face. And everyone else's. Great fun, and cold beers wherever you arrive.
That rings a bell. Think his were 16" standard on a '93 cab.
Agree with all the love for this shape. One day I'll have a 993 Targa.
After literally a year shut in a garage and not even checked on (just haven't had time), the Morgan was brought back to life with a jump from the RR.
MOT'd without even any advisories, new battery, oil and filter change, greased kingpins and we're off... Well, we would be if it wasn't raining, its back locked away again :(

I'd forgotten how much I liked it. Custom dash shot

Love that dash shot!
Sorry about the lack of pics guys. Whenever I've had time it's been pishing down and whenever it's been nice I've been busy or driving it. I'll get some soon though. Having had the chance to put a few miles on it now (although not quite through the 600 mile run in yet) I can only say positive things about this car's performance and handling abilities. I have never driven such a nimble, composed car ever before. It makes a mockery of corners and you can attack them at speeds that would leave the rs4 struggling and all without getting into the second half of the rev range (still running in!) Also, once acclimated to the dimensions it's pretty easy to manoeuvre, park etc. Having driven a number of 570s but never a 540 I'm very glad I took the chief engineer's advice and went 540. For general use and non-track use the extra compliance in the 540's suspension just keeps it so nicely planted. The composure of the suspension is reminiscent (albeit another level) of my old M3 CSL. Love it!!

Another 635 fan here.
I don't remember much of the old TV series Moonlighting, but this scene was forever seared into my brain.

Love these cars. I still think they were one of the most elegant cars BMW made.
I had an 83 628 CSI. Had it for three years used as my daily transport and sold it for what I paid but regretted it to this day. I still regularly check the for sale ad's. If I had a garage it would be top of my list.
Just found the most expensive 635 ever. Along with most of their stock. http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classif...code=p&adPos=4

Had a great run in the Mac today. It's run in now so can get the full beans. It's just phenomenal.
Please can we see a pic of the engine?
Editing to add the thought that came straight before the one above: that's a great and rare angle that shows off how stunning that car is. Stunning.
Just walked past one in exactly the same colour in Merchant City in Glasgow. At first I thought it may well be you (due to you mentioning Glasgow in a previous post). Owner was out the car talking to a few guys and i was going to say something stupid along the lines of "hey, are you the watch forum guy?"
Just as well I was late for a meeting as could well have been pretty embarrassing.
Styling-wise this is everything the 12C wasn't. Fair play to McLaren, they seem to have listed to their critics and acted swiftly - not just styling but handling and the intangibles that make these cars an event. I wouldn't pass up a cheap 12C but the progress has been immense.
For anyone who likes a fat ass...
