Well yet another weekend goes by and the debate rages on regarding who is better, Haaland, Nunez or Weghorst.....
Couldn’t argue with any of the cards but……. When Antony came on , within minutes he’d swung and contacted with Robinson. Ref and linesman ignore it and the commentators make a joke of it . Five minutes later, he does the same player late and Dixon actually said as a defender he sometimes expected them !!!
Silva looks like he was dismissed because there were United officials around the rev at the VAR monitor which isn’t allowed .
Fulham had that game sewn up until the instinctive stop by Willian ( who was superb again today )
It’d have made far more sense to let them score and beat them again with 11.
Fulham embarrassing today.
No wonder there are so many issues at grassroots level when the professionals behave like that.

Was on my Todd yesterday so decided to take in a bit of Italian football. Well that was a mistake. Probably 2 of the biggest games of the season in Italy, Lazio Roma and then Inter and Juve, terrible games with the play getting broken up constantly, VAR taking 4 minutes to make a decision on the Juve goal.
I watch Scottish football and that is a chore at times, last night took it to a new level of monotony though.
Hence why the big clubs want a European super league, boring football doesn't generate cash so try to cash in on someone else's success, I had no idea why the prem clubs were interested in the format as the prem basically has untold wealth with the quality of clubs, players and exciting football.
The debt some of the big euro clubs have is also off the scale and tedious football will not pay that back.
I think even in the prem the large majority of games are pretty boring.
Teams are so tactically aware now that the majority set up to stop the others playing or to pack the final third.
I’d argue the 90s prem football was far more exciting. Plus players and keepers made regular mistakes which upped the excitement.

Still at least matches have been entertaining at the Emirates (other than Toon drop, tuck, roll, hold face, cry, need no treatment and repeat, they'd have beaten us if they'd actually played).
Some interesting Arsenal EPL stats with 10 games to go:
- Arsenal have 69 points from 28 matches- this equals our finishing total points for last season (21/22).
- We have scored 66 goals so far this season- this is already 5 more than the entirety of last season (61).
- Palace was our 22nd Premier League win of the season- this matches the total won last season (22)
- This is the most ever wins in the first 28 matches of a league campaign for Arsenal
Since Emory took over at Aston Villa (when we were 17th, on equal points with Wolves in the first relegation spot), we've taken the third highest number of points after Manchesters City and United. He's getting a big war chest to spend in the summer too...
Six would be very light indeed... if you look at the FA Rules and Regs, Mitrovic's offence probably falls into the middle category:
"The three categories of offence against Match Officials are as follows:
96.1 Threatening behaviour: words or action that cause the Match Official to believe that they are being threatened. Examples include but are not limited to: the use of words that imply (directly or indirectly) that the Match Official may be subjected to any form of physical abuse either immediately or later, whether realistic or not; the raising of hands to intimidate the Match Official; pretending to throw or kick an object at the Match Official.
96.2 Physical contact or attempted physical contact: physical actions (or attempted actions) that are unlikely to cause injury to the Match Official but are nevertheless confrontational, examples include but are not limited to: pushing the Match Official or pulling the Match Official (or their clothing or equipment)"
That would carry a sanction of:
- 101.4 suspension from all football activities for a period of between 112 days and 2 years. The recommended entry point, prior to considering any mitigating or aggravating factors is 182 days.
- 101.5 a fine of up to £150, with a mandatory minimum fine of £75.
- 101.6 an order that the Participant completes an education programme before the time-based suspension is served or within 28 days of the Disciplinary Commission’s decision, whichever is the later.
I can't take credit for knowing the entire rules and regulations of the FA but I knew it was buried in there somewhere. Even if they make the case that it was 'just' threatening behaviour, there's still a 56-182 day suspension with an entry point of 112 days so that's the rest of the season.
Not sure I was whining as I was referring to entertainment level, I appreciate teams can use whatever tactics they like to get a result, doesn't mean I like to watch it regardless of what teams are playing. As per above in bold, when you decided to play we were all over the shop and you could've buried us. Apologies for calling it like I saw it from a match that I attended- from what I'd seen of you guys I was expecting more attacking football and a potential loss for us. I predate Wenger time and recall Gazza, Beardsley and the like at Highbury, I had a soft spot for Toon as friend was a supporter and joined them away a few times during the late 80's /early 90s and would no doubt have seen more if he hadn't been killed.
You mentioned not bothered re Champs league for Toon but I think getting it means you can attract/ be more selective about bringing new top quality players to the squad. The new owner seems to be a builder rather than a Chelsea blower so adding a couple more Isak type players, getting European experience (and the buzz for the fans) whilst solidifying you as part of the top 4/6 and bringing on the academy can only be good no? If you can skip Europa that is a real bonus too, we like to do skip in finals and retire early from knock out stages anyway, I'm ahem sure that is all planned:pirates:
Tomiyasu and Saliba out for rest of season. Going to the Etihad and Anfield with Rob Holding at the back isn't making me comfortable.
I think we'll need to attack City and keep them away from our back line and in any case defence is City's weak spot and I think Arsenal's attack is more potent than City's (yes I know that soubds preposterous but basically City's goals centre around the Nordic Goal Yeti whereas Arsenal spread them around more and are more of a threat from either wing). I think Arsenal will need to get 3 goals at the Etihad to make sure they avoid defeat so will need to be on their game from the start.
KDB pinging balls over Holding for Haaland is the stuff of nightmares though.
Partey is an option at RB.
French media now reporting Saliba is 'several weeks' and not rest of season so that would be good - I reckon we could beat Leeds without a decent defence but at Anfield we will need our 1st choice defence for sure as we need to win there.
Hell no. Partey is our sweeper/ link between defence, midfield and forwards, plus his interceptions often stop counters, we'd get battered if he was stuck on the RB position. Partey's the player I fear most losing from the internationals as he really allows us to get the best out of Odegaard and even Xhaka.
Depends which Leeds turns up, Holdings new hair was more than good enough to keep Zaha quiet.
I don't want to think past the Leeds match but for Liverpool if we pull White across into CB we lose the attack/ overlap/ stretching teams on the right to try and pull away those double teaming Saka; would he risk Tierney at RB for some protection/ attack down that side? I think Holding would still get the nod if Saliba is out v Liverpool, unless Kiwior can show some of his Polish international form and gets a start and good performance v Leeds, rather than the wobbly Sporting away form.
Agreed but I think he will play.
White has been superb at RB one of the better ones in the league this season moving him will break the Odegaard Saka White triangle which has worked so well so doubt he will move over.
Kiwior is an option, he’s played plenty of football this season in Italy but that means 3 of the back 4 will be left footed and too lopsided
Mostly probably it will be Xhaka to sit in to act as a secondary pivot to beat the opposing teams press while Zonkenko will need to keep width.
It means the front 4 will need to run their socks off but with Jesus back we are capable.
The thought of Nunez vs Holding is giving me nightmares.
The Holding criticism is ill-judged and unfair.
He's a very strong Premier League CB, who plays very little, yet usually slots in fairly seamlessly. He had an absolute shocker and showed naivety away to Spurs last season, true enough, but in his years at the club has been a brilliant servant and rarely let the side down. For a good period under Arteta he and Pablo Mari made a very solid partnership!!!
Holding actually played pretty well v Haaland at the Etihad in FA Cup, Erling has made a mug out of plenty CBs this season in the PL but Holding played well. The issue with Holding is his security on the ball, on the deck he's just not as good as Saliba in tight spaces or breaking the lines with his passing. This is exacerbated when playing out from the back or playing an aggressive high line with lots of space in behind - which we do. He is then caught sometimes - which has happened to Gabriel and Saliba plenty but they have a skill, turn of pace, or passing ability to get out of trouble most of the time. Holding is absolutely not terrible though and not many sides in the league have a 4th or 5th choice CB as good as him. I'd have him over Cristian Romero any day.

Seems Saliba isn't as bad as thought and will definitely be back for Anfield. Important as not only do we need to win there but ideally by 3 clear goals to get rid of City's goal difference advantage as I think we may draw up at the Toon.
Tomiyasu definitely still out for the season
Leeds have taken four points from the last two games and scored six goals. We’re on the up and always seem to play well against the gunners!
Back in the eighties, it seems like we had two or three FA Cup replays against Arsenal almost every season. Arsenal always seemed to come out on top in the end though!
I don’t really expect to get a result at the Emirates but one can live in hope [emoji1696]
Leeds was one game (the other Everton) where we were completely outplayed this season and that was a proper smash and grab to get the 3 points at Elland Road. Leeds have pace on the break as well so I can see this being a nervous watch - I do suspect we may have too much for them up front but also I wouldn't be surprised to be 2-0 down to them either.
Absolutely brutal rendition of God Save the King there lol!
Good goal from Newcastle's new DCM ;)
Controlled 1st half performance- but how on earth has Grealish missed that?!!?
What did they promise the ref a house on the Amalfi coast?
Why is Calvin Philips A in the starting line up and B still on the pitch?
Moronic management by Southgate. We are being overrun in midfield because of that waste of space Philips and the defence under pressure and now a red. Amateur.
Never in doubt!

That was horrific. Italy are appalling. What on earth were England doing in the 2nd half? Was like watching 2 Championship sides
Lucky result great first half pony second and for me sums up todays football
Rubbish ref, players out of order, managers waving theirs arm for imaginary cards like they are having a “ j arthur” just losing my interest after 60+ years
All sorted once the CFC boys come on.

Kane record scorer for England and record scorer for Spurs and absolutely none of those goals mean anything as he's won fark all.
An amazing 66% strike rate for his country. Incredible by Kane!
Sakka was a waste of a shirt again .
Stones was the reason England won .
To be clear , I didn’t watch the game .
