Last night will go down as an evening of liquid disappointment. A rare evening when I considered drain-pouring my first two beers, gave up and hit the single malt instead!
This Amber from Romney Marsh Brewery was gifted by a mate who I trust on matters malted...

... it was terrible. Overly carbonated, under flavoured, basically don’t buy it.
I don’t have any pictures of the Toast American Pale Ale. It was so shit that I threw half of it away and gave it 0 out of 5 on Untappd. Utter, utter crap. How they can brew something so utterly insipid I don’t know. How people buy it (I was given it), I know even less. I should’ve known. I’ve had their beers before at a beer festival (crap too) so should’ve left it alone.
Anyway, remember Toast brewing and don’t buy their awful beer.
Thank goodness for Glenfarclas 15yo and Highland Park 12yo who saved the evening (and made this morning especially slow).
Two from last night, quite a contrast between the two!

Both pretty good, the first had a lovely flavour profile but lacked that last percentage of punch and the second had a slight metallic after taste that, thankfully, faded as it warmed - next time I won't drink it straight from the fridge...
I've a virtual whisky night tonight and we normally start with a beer, will probably go for Amundsen's Weapon X.
Very much as it says on the tin, which is a good thing. It's also so dark you wonder how it doesn't stain the glass you're drinking it from!
As I said above it does have a slight metallic aftertaste however that could be, in part, down to the previous drink tainting the taste buds and partly down to its temperature. I'd advise not drinking it straight from the fridge, give it 20min or so to warm a little. I'd also say that it's definitely a one-can-is-enough type of drink, in a good way.
Just get the 1 can and see how you go. Olly, the guy that runs the Cford shop, is great at recommending other beers as well.
They seem to have a good selection on the website although some of the stouts are a little pricey, the cost quickly rakes up when you want to try a few different ones.
Hate spending £7-£10 a can and then find I don't like it that much!

Had a quencher to start . . .

Now something a little darker and stronger . . .

Something stronger when the stout's gone down :la:
I'm normally a 500ml man, but at 8.5% 330ml will do . . .

Not bad at all.
One Stop shops have Bank's Amber Bitter at just 62p a bottle, a solidly quaffable if unspectacular proper session bitter. it's like 1989 all over again!
Just the one of these for me tonight...

Not in any way affiliated but supporting my local brewery at tough times, Bishop Nick; formerly Ridleys before the buy out to Greene King. These are what I’m drinking, so many great beers to be found here and some great free delivery deals - stay home, drink beer, save lives, drink beer, protect the NHS, drink beer.

That was enough to make up for Friday nights disaster in a dimple.
Only one today. Mrs Works cooked-up a fantastic sausages & mash with onion gravy and her signature spiced red cabbage. I had a couple of dark beers that I thought would pair well and picked this dark and fruity number which I was gifted by a colleague who’s a big fan of the German dark brewing arts...

Good lord it’s good. Rich, caramel, ripe plums and rum-raisins. I wish I had more than one.
Black Sheep Ale for me tonight. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...46116123d8.jpg

Thank you.
To the question, no I didn’t buy it here. A colleague in Krakow has a son who lives in Germany. Said colleague really likes German dark beers, visits his son regularly (amongst a hobby of weekend trips across Europe) and always brings a few crates home with him.

Been to a Zoom virtual Riley owners' club meet tonight, so stuck to the bottled Tribute; awaiting the arrival of a 10 litre polycube of Heck's Vintage Dry tomorrow! Joy of joys!
Wore my 1861 Navitimer but no-one noticed.

Had a burn in the garden this evening.
Had 4 cans of nelson and a variety pack of international lager left in the fridge. They're gone and am now on the vino trying to be the responsible neighbour and stay awake looking after the embers.
Probably a sound machine https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...154fda0775.jpg

This is just acclimatizing while I get ready for our virtual quiz tonight.
I've had it before, fruity (as you can well imagine) and definitely only one per night but a different drink than my usual stout and IPA.

Just taken delivery of a dozen ales from the Skye Brewery, 3 each of 4 different ales.
Madam is brave enough to opt for the 7% fruity Cuillin Beast, while my golden and malty craft Blaven is a relatively modest 4.7%. Both absolutely delicious!
Tomorrow is wine night but we’’’ll hit the Skye Red at 4.2%, and the IPA at 5% on Sunday!
Ordered these direct from the brewery on Wednesday evening, and delivered this morning (Friday) to the East Neuk of Fife - no delivery charge if you spend over £25.00, which isn’t too difficult a task!

It's delicious so I'm ordering some direct from the brewery, which is just a few miles down the road.
Their Pils lager is good too
