A San Miguel in Skipton...
Marks and Spencer do a range of light ales brewed by a number of brewery's around the country. My favourite is Citra ipa, brewed by Oakham Ales, Cambridgeshire.
It has a citrus aroma and is very refreshing.

Nothing exciting, Peroni night tonight.
Punk IPA
Good to see that this post has caught the imagination (and the beer drinking arm) of the TZ community. For those of us who have regular enforced abstinence due to work Oncall cover, I can recommend something else produced by St Peters brewery.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...82f9f2bc9f.jpg
Found some Carling Premier at the Co-op tonight! I didn't know it had been relaunched, I used to drink it in the 90s when I was a student and wanted to treat myself. Its pretty similar to what I remember, although I used to drink it on draft, rather than from a can, thick creamy head, and nice and smooth. Much better than normal Carling, and a change from my usual Budvar, Birra Moretti bottles etc.
Believe it or not, a bottle of Blandford Flyer that I was given for Christmas. It is flavoured with ginger; not as bad as you might think.
Just been diagnosed at the age of 49 [emoji22]
I’m missing a good beer, but out here in Aus I’ve tried Wilde and O’Briens which are passable and Glutenberg (from the US) which was drinkable. Also tried a German one which was horrible.

Foothills Hollyum IPA here in North Carolina.
It's my new favourite beer.
Had a Fursty Ferret to quench me thirst, now enjoying a Proper Black IPA as I do some guitar practice . . .

It's been a long week. And it's only Wednesday!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6946621e94.jpg
0% Bavaria from Sainsbury's :grief:
Actually, it's not that bad. I'm having three days a week off booze so I've been trying all sorts. Budweiser 0% isn't too bad either. Tomorrow evening can't come quick enough though :eagerness:
I do one week of Oncall cover every month and the Bavaria is not a bad substitute for real beer when you can't drink. I have an extensive range of teas and coffees to get me through the week. The first real beer on a Friday night tastes wonderful.
And to finish off, something from the special rack.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...705f9960c8.jpg
Another + for St Peters, however please don't judge them on their "without" range, It just doesn't work. Also whilst there are many fine bottled ales now, to go to a cosy pub and share a pint or two with friends is what beer is all about. Last night Mighty Oak Oscar Wilde mild, superb.Cheers, John B4
Brains SA last night. First time for years and years.
A Couple of beers from Northern Monk!

Tried a 'Monty Python's Flying Circus Very Silly IPA' last night, draught. With a name like that I thought that it was worth a shot! Big fan of IPAs and thought the 'Very Silly' part could mean ultra bitter, or ultra floral or the like.
It was the most boring pint I've ever had. No character, no flavour, no interest, nothing. Brewed by Black Sheep, and I can't say I've ever enjoyed one of theirs, but at least the others have something to dislike in terms of their character. This was just crap.
OH has found me some bottles of Wadsworth Swordfish, my absolute favourite. Surprisingly hard to find even though we only live 10 miles form the brewery. Sometimes a trip to their shop is a must.

Whetting my appetite for beer tonight.
^^^ Yak!! That's not beer. That's vile
A few bottles of Leffe with my dinner at El Comporte restaurant @ Barcelo Royal level Fuerteventura.
And now a few glasses of Chivas to end the evening.
Spent the night at Leicester beer festival…. Told my mates…. “This attracts a certain type, doesn’t it?”
I then had a a worrying moment of self reflection
Tried some cracking beers though, so, soon got over it!
Last night I was mostly drinking -
Hook Norton Double Stout.
v.good!
I am off to the Brewdog in 7 dials tonight.
I can almost taste it!
I had a Guinness last night - Unusual for me, but the Doombar was off.
It was pretty smooth, but seemed rather free from flavour - Have they changed it? I've a feeling this may have been 'extra cold', does that make a difference?

I had a pint of Elgood Coolship Dark (https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/elgood...p-dark/316438/) last night at The Understudy - good craft beer pub at the National Theatre and right on the river at Southbank. It, the beer, is a bit of an acquired taste - very sour. My mates were impressed I managed to finish it. This description from the link is about spot on "A deep purple brown colour with a medium beige head. Aroma of sour red grapes, vinegar, some fig, maybe cherry, slight funk, a little chocolate and subtle leather. Taste of sour red grapes, dark fruits, some leather, slight chocolate, a hint of vinegar and subtle wood. Medium bodied and a slick texture. A dry, tangy and sour, red fruit finish. Red wine and vinegar on the nose but in the taste, the flavours come together well. Something different." Not sure I would go for it again tbh but never had a sour beer before.
IMO a good pint of Guinness is smooth and has a slight roasted / toasted flavour but it does not pack the punch of an IPA or a best bitter.
When you get a bad pint it's awful, strong bitter / coffee flavour or the taste of iron that is similar to licking a 2p coin. Not nice at all. It's all in the head, you can normally judge a pint on the colour consistency and longevity of the head before you even taste it.
Draft Gunniess has a totally different flavour to the original in a bottle.
Guinness is my pint of choice in pubs that serve nothing but euro P1ss
I enjoy the Goose Island offerings, and I get a selection sent through the post every month from Beer52....which i tend to drink within the first 2 nights of receipt.
Some I liked, some I did not, but I have no real idea which ones as I did not complete any tasting notes...!!!:eagerness:
My wife enjoys many of the labels though.
Cobra as I'm going out for a curry
I was surprised at how smooth it was, it just didn't seem as flavoursome as I recalled, but then I've not drunk a Guinness in probably 2 or 3 years and I've had a few Stouts and Porters since, so maybe my expectation was too high!
I've certainly experienced bad pints of Guinness (with that 2p taste!) and this wasn't one of them, it just seemed a bit bland.
It has always tasted better out of cans than from a tap (except when in Ireland, which is the only time I drank a significant amount of it) to me, too.

Black Label, some Biltong, view not too shabby ... oh, I love this country!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...237fc1397c.jpg

To make space for a whole range of beers from a relatively local brewery, XT Brewing Co, as our local Budgens is closing and has 15% off all stock...
