After months of watching asking prices on Autotrader and Pistonheads, I’ve finally bitten the bullet and bought my first Porsche.

Lovely
Enjoy it.
Today I was out in my Polar Silver 993 Carrera 2
I bought her about 12 years ago and I still love every minute behind the wheel.
I’ve had lots of cars come and go but she is a keeper.
This pic was en route to The Holy Island….

Congrats Klunk. Lovely colour and wheels!
That red is fantastic. Suits the car perfectly.
Nice one klunk, looks great
I hope it's not a thread hijack to ask: how many of you owners keep yours outside rather than garaged? I really fancy a Cayman when the piggy bank is full, but garaging it is not an option.
I love that colour of red…very classy.
On the topic of garaging, my Boxster is kept outside all year but if I know I will not be using it for a few days then I put a cover over it!

My first Porsche was previously owned by Pink Floyd's Nick Mason
Blue 944 Cabriolet
Boot stank of petrol as somone had screwed a subwoofer through the boot floor into the fuel tank.
Those of us of a certain vintage will remember(pre using internet) Autotraders magazine for sports cars-Top Marques
Think it came out every 2 weeks and was like a porn mag for any petrol head.
Nice motor back in the day

Yes, most Porsches seem to be ordered in those colours, I’ve been specifically looking for something a little different.
I don’t have it yet, had a 20ish minute test drive in it yesterday and after reviewing service documents, put down the deposit. I’ll be picking it up in about 5/6 weeks as I currently don’t have access to my garage.
First impressions, a firm ride even on comfort setting and a very close gate on the manual box, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it. After a nearly three hour drive in my Mazda CX30, it felt much more solidly engineered and planted on the road. If I’m honest, the test drive passed me by a little bit, I was mainly focussed on not wrapping it up on a damp country lane in the Hertfordshire countryside. Mission accomplished.
A guy I know has a solar trickle charger and leaves the panel in the windscreen. It’s an old Jag and seems to work for him.

Yep it’s a 981 Boxster S with sports pack and exhaust!
Makes a great noise!

Have to say I think the styling on the gen1 987 is my favourite.
Great looking car.
No, that would be too easy! The battery is in the frunk and the lock is electronic. To open the frunk you need to remove the left front wheel and find a wire to pull in behind the fender plastics.
There is also a possibility of giving the car power through the fusebox, but neither of these options are very much fun. ;)
Cheers. I’ll check them out
There is a much easier more effective way that removes all of the above hassle. You would firstly need to Get a trickle charge such as NOCO or CTek. Then you will also need optional cigarette lighter leader. Simply plug it into the in car cigar lighter and leave for around 10 minutes. Bobs your uncle power will start to restore to your battery and sufficient power will be available to pop the Frunk. It’s the way I’ve been doing it on my 911 for years and works a treat!

Yes, dependant on which model you have as they are all slightly different you can even do it it on the most recent 992. You will need to use the emergency key blade but it’s not complicated.

The previous owner of my 996 C4S obviously had some frunk issues and has helpfully made the cable release accessible through the front grill.
I keep it on a CTEK (bought as a necessity when I had my 993) which Porsche knowingly leave a notch in the door seal for...
OP udate here - I came really close to buying this base model Boxster. I think the colour is called Blow Dry Blue :wink-new:

It was lovely to drive, but slightly poverty spec. When it came to it, I knew that I'd always wish I'd got a Cayman, so stepped away. I'm now homing in on a black Cayman S - hopefully viewing & driving it this weekend.
I haven't completely discounted a 911, but I think that may come further down the line, and would probably be a 997 as a weekend car. Thank goodnness someone's bought this one though https://rpmtechnik.co.uk/porsche-sal...pdk/#gallery-6
A bit of man maths with the budget means I can keep the XC40 for the moment, so that removes a Macan from the picture.
The all important exhaust, good!
Rest looks perfect, without getting OTT as so many things you can select. Fingers crossed you are impressed when you see it.
The extra power is very clear, but try to remember how the base engine felt, as sometimes I prefer my wife’s base for driving & revving, but when I want to get past something the power comes into its own.
