I know there have been several concerns raised about building regs but all that aside, it looks really smart and a massive improvement on what went before. A room to really enjoy.

Well quick update (if there’s any interest)
All completed outside- all pasterboarded inside and wired up - exterior wall gone and suitable RSJ’s in place
Flooring all done and today the kitchens arrived - now to sort it

Looking good Paul. Hope you aren't hosting Christmas dinner :smile-new:
Judging by the weather outside, it looks as though it's passed the watertight test :encouragement:
Impressive work Lewie, well done!
Looks great, look forward to seeing kitchen once installed.
Good work…. I look forward to your updates as you’ve not just thrown cash at something…. All power to you !
Just had a tot up last night - I’ve recorded every spend so far - however small
£9733 has got me this far
All I need after this is the plaster, paint and skirting
Kitchen has cost £6k - I already had the sink and tap- bought the range, fridge and freezer separately at £950 total
I’m guessing (only guessing) flooring (possibly vinyl) will come in around £1k??
Not a bad guesstimate - i originally thought around £10k for the build plus kitchen
Well I’ve been doing bits and pieces over the holidays in between eating and drinking
Moving anti clockwise around the kitchen -

Really, really enjoying this thread! It’s all very well drooling over £50,000 garage builds, but this is real world stuff and I’m loving the ingenuity.
Exactly that. Having fitted just the kitchens myself without having to build the room in the previous 3 houses, can appreciate all the work here.
Not a great deal of progress but as the kids say ‘it’s getting there’
Managed to get my SIL to help manhandle the oak work tops - phew there heavy
Nearly ready for some plaster (and getting tidy )

You've not had the spread in first ??? Why's that can I ask ??
as a complete failure at DIY. these sort of projects amaze me; I was delighted with having a bonfire last night!
looking forward to the end result
Aka my brother
I love him to bits but he’s hard to pin down
99 % of the plastering is in the new part - the only plastering in the old kitchen is the box work around the opening
I’ve been using the new ‘kitchen’ area to work and store tools/ new kitchen- the new kitchen units are being filled up so the new areas emptying
I’ve started to drop hints to him - some not so subtle
Going to try to move most of my tools and timber to the shed this weekend so the area should be clear(ish)
Ideally probably would have been easier but - when the works free ….
Every family group should include a plasterer.
He is messy - I’ll be covering everything up 😂
Had an ex colleague (old friend) came and tiledthe kitchen for me last week so things are looking neater
My brothers plastered about 1/2 the area now with just the window wall, ceiling( not his favourite area being 6’6”) and skylight area to do
I’m really struggling with flooring - I’m thinking Amtico but wonder if it will work with the sub floor I already have (osb and 60’s tiled floor boards)
A herringbone parquet style
Maybe some not liking my choice of tiles but each to their own
So just a bit of plastering- flooring, plinths and decor to do

Nothing wrong with the tiles, and it's really starting to take shape now. Pleased with it?
Looking sharp Lewie
Yeh very happy
With what I’ve spent and achieved - thanks
What a project Lewie! Well done... looks great. There's a lot of satisfaction on what you have achieved. Enjoy the kitchen.
As it stands for the complete build up to date - approx £16900 - skirting and flooring to pay for and that’s about it
So extremely pleased - I’m sure it probably couldn’t have been done cheaper
That’s extension ,new kitchen install with appliances - bifolds, roof lantern
For a house extension and new kitchen? Absolutely phenomenal sir.
Long coming update
Basically I’m done just the flooring dilemma to overcome but I think I have decided on a Karndene glue down herring bone Lvt
Any to the pics- not like other threads with minimalistic kitchen - this ones in a hectic household of one retired male 😂
Finally press ganged my brother into the ‘spread’ now painted
Made a boob with one of the down lighters and trapped the wiring under the plasterboard when I was fitting so I had to cut a hole to rescue it then patch it but it’s totally unnoticeable

Room was a little bare so I made a pannled ‘feature wall’ from a sheet of 9mm MDF- complete with the 2.5l of paint£30

And the flooring I think I’m going with
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1a377b23_c.jpgUntitled by biglewie, on Flickr
Obviously end panels and plinths still to fit after the flooring
Looks belting…. How’s it looking from the outside?
Thanks - by night

Cracking transformation there, nice work.
Susan Perb…! You should be delighted with the way that turned out…. Sipping your coffee/tea/beer at that table should be very satisfying
Brilliant job, as others have said!
Great job, amazing what you can get for the £££'s with some talent and graft...
Thanks for all the encouragement and kind words ….. right what’s next?
That really looks superb!
