I just think it's one of those things which is innately wrong. Just looks a bit naff to me. An exception might be a yellow gold vintage Sub or similar, but all that would do is prove the rule. A tropic or rubber strap would be more appropriate if one wanted something shaped like a traditional watch strap.
edit: Hmm, Panerai would be another exception, and leather on vintage/reissue watches looks better than it does on modern stuff, but I would still stick by 'no leather on divers' as a good principle.
I think this looks good Attachment 13477

I don’t mind a diver on leather. Here’s mine.

Used to like the shark skin straps in the old TAG days...unfortunately the sharks probably didn't like them being used for watches I'm sure....(Used to like shark steaks though too....)

Sorry guys leather does not work for me.
Got this one on a Hirsch Mariner, best of both worlds, looks great on leather and it dries out within minutes. These straps are soft and supple and not too thick like a lot of leather straps are, I've got them on 3 of watches (all divers). In fact the only watch I've got on a bracelet is a Rolex GMT, tried that on leather too but something not quite right about that :)

Also waiting for one of Pavel's strap for this beauty as this stop gap doesn't quite match.
Still, some watches don't work with leather, can never get one that sits right for me on my SMP.Attachment 13622

Thanks.:eagerness:
Aesthetically it does work however a dive watch wouldn’t be used for diving on a leather strap . However some of the pics in the thread clearly show how good a diver can look on leather

A few in this thread are getting close to ‘right’ but not quite there for me personally.
Wow Andy, your U1 looks great on that strap. Please let me know if you want to part with it.
Pete
most of my divers are on leather, i even take off the bracelets and replace them with leather. keeps the bracelet new and use the leather for hacking around. and i usually find them more comfortable too.
i put my seamaster in this in the summer as otherwise i cannot wear it due to no micro adjustment on the bracelet.....https://i.imgur.com/nwaRdFw.jpg
Quite enjoying my Super Pro on a Heuerville atm:

I’m in the against camp myself, think it looks wrong.
Kind of like Usain Bolt in the blocks wearing loafers!
Divers should be on steel for me,save the leather for dress watches

Why could it possibly be "wrong"?
Most divers are never even worn in the shower (or gods forfend, even in a shower), so what does it matter?
Personal taste is the only real arbiter: if you like it on leather, wear and enjoy.
I always think they look nice and have tried myself several times but for some reason they just don’t seem to look right on me when I put them on the wrist? For me, if it’s a nato or rubber if I need a change.

That said... The nato for the black bay bronze hasn’t even been opened yet, let alone fitted as I like the look of the leather so much! Make sense of that if you can?

This is not mine, picture saved from the web some time ago. Always liked the look but never considered leather for a 007 myself.
Divers on leather's OK for me, it's the brown straps I can`t stand. Brown strap and black dial has always been a no-no for me.
Google Hirsch Robby yellow and you'll find some options, pretty sure that's what it is, these guys are good but may not be the cheapest:

Given that most dive watches barely even see rain, yes it’s perfectly fine. Unless you’re a pedant.
A 6309 (from Doug Darter) meets a very comfy leather strap (from Takethecannoli).https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c1e4f1ba02.jpg

I'm wearing SMPc on Leather at the moment while my adjustable Clasp is away getting fixed, I'm quite liking it.

To my eye, no diver ever looks quite right on a leather strap, because no diver would ever wear a leather strap into the water.
However, so few dive watches ever see the wet stuff, that from a practical point of view, it doesn’t matter in most cases. I only ever use my watches on a bracelet or a NATO, precisely because they do get wet and these straps are easy to care for.
So if you’re not diving, do what makes you happy!
(But if you are, stay away from leather because the sea water or in other cases the nasty sedimented fresh water, will wear your strap and eventually it will give)
I used to wear the odd diver on leather...

I quite like them (divers on leather that is).

Diver on leather? I like "em!
Aesthetically it can look right ........ sometimes.
But no, not really. Like getting in the bath with your socks on.

Got a few on leather. Each to their own.

Imho in most cases a diver doesn't look nice on leather, this is obvious for those who have a minimum of taste.
Generally no but i love the look of my BBN on brown suede...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...dff713a49d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...15e05c9ea4.jpg

Imho, it's all matter of opinion.
Personally I can't think of any diver I prefer on leather, but equally people are happy to wear a quality watch on a tatty bit of nylon... whatever works for the wearer.
If we all liked the same thing this forum would be full of people agonising over how much resale value their new Rolex would hold and think how boring that would be ;)
