I was behind a brand new 911 Turbo coming out of Costco earlier and I could have followed the guy home just to stare at it for longer. Was doing man maths for a Cayman or older 911 the whole way home.
Only time I ever look back at either Tesla is to see if the mirrors are folded so I know it’s locked.
The rear end of the 992 Turbo looks so aggressive. I remember thinking how much more aggressive the 991 looked than the 997, but now they both look so elegant compared to the brutish 992.
Because there was SO much love last time... thought I'd share a pic of what I'm using this week. This one is a very low and early chassis numbered version of the Grenadier Utility Wagon, Trialmaster, petrol in Eldoret blue. It has the KO2 tyres which made this local byway as easy as climbing a kerb in Chelsea.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...024602650f.jpg

I had a M235i with the N55 engine and can confirm that they are a little worse on fuel than the B58 found in the 240i. The B58 is also better on fuel than the S55 found in the M2 Comp
The S58 in the M3/M4 and now current M2 is very economical though and on par with the B58 i feel

My lease was ending and it's kind of been difficult to find the right car as there is now so many different options with fully electric, hybrids and regular cars. Most often you find a car that you like, but it doesn't have the powertrain you prefer. I drove many nice electric cars like the MB EQE SUV, but did not find them interesting.
I decided on a stopgap car to see how things develop. I setteled on a hybdid that has a big battery, but I have to say I like the 3 liter inline six too.

Now driving a tidy little 2-door saloon; temporary wheels while I sort the Riley:

Thanks Jon. I usually have a Moggie Minor about me; they are utilitarian, unexciting little things, but must be the easiest cars to maintain and repair ever. And bags of charm. Also, I don't think there is anyone alive in Britain today who doesn't have a relative who owned a Morris Minor.
I do have a "modern" Peugeot with a 1.6hdi engine, but my regular commute is a 5-mile-each-way urban toddle, and the dpf filter really doesn't like that, hence the Morris.
The Rileys are now relegated to high days and holidays, so it earns its keep.
This one is far and away the tidiest I have had; less than 30,000 from new.

Lovely car. My earliest memories are of my parents matching Morris Travellers. One in very dark blue and one in light blue. And my father varnishing the wood
Not been to that restaurant for about 10 years. Was very convenient when I was in Fairfield hospital. A time to forget.

It must have been newly opened then, Dan. And I expect that was the closest to Fairfield that you could find a parking space!
@Hood - I was there under duress; a couple of hundred yards further up the lane is a perfectly good J W Lees pub (the Pack Horse), which would have been my default choice for a night out. One of my regular haunts in fact.
Unfortunately it wasn't my choice to make that night.
Thank you. Yes, I'm aware of your MM. Lovely thing too. The Riley stood out for the colour combo. Polished black with red piping and then that deep red interior looks lush. Much better than (my) modern red.

Your driver is more cute than my driver.
Picked up a cheap B7 RS4 from collecting cars last week.
Over the moon, why have I waited so long to get one!! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ca58045989.jpg

Always wanted an RS4, cane so close to buying one but ended up in an M3. Manual V8, what’s not to like !
What’s the spec, I can’t imagine it was “cheap” from CC
I traded mine in for only 13k in 2020, which was pretty depressing. I believed they would reach classic status sooner as were so well regarded when new, naturally aspirated, manual, etc., but seem to be a bit forgotten. In the four years I had it it was overall really trouble free. It needed a carbon clan quite badly when I got it at around 40k miles, and the usual vacuum leaks sorted, but aside from that the only issue is the very common one of the front Brembos being a very poor design and would develop vibration no matter what I did. It really could do with better discs. For an NA car it also responded quite well to a remap which raised the rev limit to 8400 and 430-ish BHP (from actual 400-ish, as the claimed 414 was optimistic).
Watched the video that Chris put up. Love things like this. I have to admit I was quite sceptical when CC came about but it does seem to be a great place to buy and sell.

A good friend of mine has just bought a 911 C4S Cabriolet from CC. Loads of history in the description, and a ton of photos. He hasn't yet found anything on the car other than as described. It was a decent price too.

Yes. That’s the one! I like how down to earth the video was, here’s my mate Mr TI22 and we are off to pick up a bargain he’s got!

Can't believe I've got my perfect 2 car garage for less than the price of a 5 year old golf R. Starting to think that the mid naughties was the zenith for cars for me. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...313ecbe3d3.jpg

Ha, no. It's at the unit I rent for my business!

They don't rely on volume. Buyer beware of course, but many of the cars listed have very comprehensive histories included in the particulars. I can only speak to my friend's experience.

Some herbert, driving a van he was not used to, managed to swipe off the front bumper of our old 2011 Superb the other week, pulling into a parking space.
Right outside our front door.
He was good enough to stop and knock on the door, so his insurance stumped up, no issue.
The surprise was that our old faithful was "beyond economic repair". After some negotiations, we realised that although we probably couldn't get a direct replacement of what we had, for the money, our old girl was beginning to creak at the seams, so we settled on a sum.
And then went looking for a replacement, which we just got last week.
So we now have a much later Superb, the 2 litre TSI 4x4 Sportline.
It's lovely. Really is. The 270 hp is enough to get you going pretty quickly, but in normal settings it wafts along effortlessly, and the mpg is pretty good if you stay off the loud pedal.
And I like the way that (in normal mode) you have to prod that pedal pretty hard to get it to really react. But when it does, it goes.
Steering is ever-so-slightly remote. But you could cross continents in it with ease.
And being a Superb, 4 of you with shedloads of luggage could all make the trip in comfort.
This will probably be our last large family car (kids are 17 and 16, and we keep cars for a long time), and so far it is doing the job very well.
I gave the 930 a lot of attention recently with all new exhaust (manifolds, all associated turbo and wastegate piping, and backbox) and turbo rebuild. It wasn't lacking before, but wow is it epic now. It always surprises passengers as that turbo packs quite a kick. Now it spools quicker and breathes better, so it's really quite something. Hard to judge, but it had about 330bhp before so without taking it on the rolling road I'd guess maybe another 20-ish. It's noticeable.
Now is time for the 997 to get some love, so I've booked it in for new exhaust (again, the full thing), performance clutch and a custom setup on a rolling road. We're targeting 600-620 BHP, around 530-540 WHP, and something over 800NM torque. I actually didn't really care for the extra power, but I did want a new exhaust to improve the sound, so a tune to match it makes sense, however once we started discussing it I got pretty excite about the potential. It's just Stage 1-ish, so the car will otherwise stay standard.
I've had both about 4 years now and can't imagine ever not having them.

Great car. I had the 2017 sportline diesel (190hp) 4x4 and it put a smile on my face every time I drove it. Exchanged it for an Enyaq IV80x and while it is a decent car it just doesn’t make me smile the same way. When or if they announce an electric superb or similar size estate I’m signing up.

I'm planning to build a bed in my 2016 Sprinter camper van myself and could really use some ideas and construction plans. I'm looking for a design that's both functional and space-efficient, ideally with some storage options underneath. If anyone has experience with this or any tips, suggestions, or detailed plans, I would greatly appreciate your help.
I'm open to various designs, whether it's a fixed bed, a fold-out bed, or even a convertible option. Any advice on materials, tools, or techniques that have worked well for you would be fantastic.
I found a website with some van bed frame plans and would love to hear your thoughts and any advice you might have. Photos of your setups would be incredibly helpful too!
I acquired this GT4RS recently- in PTS NATO Olive.
The ride quality on bumpy roads is awful and the cabin noise is ridiculously loud.
However, it goes around a corner like no other car I’ve ever driven, it’s phenomenally engaging and fast.

https://i.postimg.cc/B6yfJy7d/IMG-1146.jpg
Bloody hell, that’s a weapon there! You keep the other(s) or were they sold / traded?
We have two children both under 2 yrs old subsequently my Mrs seems to think I should have better things to spend my (our) money on than cars - so my previous GT cars have gone however I still have the 993.
To be fair the 4RS has been a revelation- it makes the standard GT4 feel very slow and surprisingly it’s even on another level compared to the 991.2 GT3RS in terms of exciting visceral engagement ……. Just a shame the cabin noise is ridiculous and the ride quality on crap roads appalling- but you can’t have it all.
That is an accolade in itself making the GT4 feel slow & being up a level on the GT3RS is amazing. I’d read a few reviews on the 4RS and it is my current dream car - maybe GT7 will add it & can drive it in VR with my wheel; about as close as I can get!
Is it engine or road noise in the cabin, or just a combination of both through reduced sound deadening materials?
Brilliant colour choice by the way, it just suits the car and its aggression perfectly. Had you seen that colour before in real life, as a brave choice if not as could have been the wrong shade?
The cabin noise at low rev range is really not that bad and perfectly tolerable……but when you absolutely floor it to around 9000 rpm the noise is just mental - due to the air intake ducts right behind your head along with the screaming engine.
That said you do forgive it such negatives because it’s what you signed up for. It’s a proper track car or Sunday morning blast -
I’d been looking for ages for a used 4RS - but they were virtually all standard colours…..I didn’t want to spend this dollar for a boring spec car…….I informed several OPC sales folk that I was after a PTS colour and eventually got a call when this NATO Olive car was taken in as a trade in. Only 3 months old car, I immediately bought it before it went on the OPC website. I’d never seen NATO Olive in the flesh before but knew I’d like it…….it’s not as nice as Irish green but a close second. Apparently it’s the only nato Olive 4rs in the U.K. so I hope it will hold its value slightly better than some cars.
Hey of course the spider will make it I until recently had a 949 spider could get it as low as 14 mpg and about £3000 a year for parts , but hey as clarkson once said the greatest badge ever and don’t forget most series collectors would sell everything for a P3 Tipo B ….
