Had this beauty delivered to me last weekend. Happy boy? Understatement.
My first Rolex or any high end brand watch.
Picked up a dot dial Panerai Pam233 last week.
Awesome watch. My Panerai thirst has been quenched.

I ordered one of these from Swiss Watches Direct four weeks ago.
Still waiting for those slackers at Longines to come back from their holidays.

This Mido Commander 8689 arrived yesterday.

Space-age dial screams 1960s, but it's actually early 1970s manufacture.
I bought it as a parts watch. The condition isn't perfect. The red second hand is probably not OEM, there is some excess sealant around the glass which indicates a replacement (visible under the loupe) , and the dial has a very light patina. However, the original bracelet is in very good condition and the watch presents much better than I expected.

The typical Mido Taubert decagonal case has tool marks and the model number and serial numbers have been worn off. However, the bracelet is as clean on the inside as it is on the outside, which is nice.

The ETA 2836 movement doesn't look too shabby, and has kept good time over the past 24 hours.

There is plenty of length on the bracelet for me. It appears to be missing only one link, and in any event, I have several spares.

The inside of the case back doesn't have any annotations, but given the tool marks on the case back and the satisfactory way it is running I am quite sure it has been serviced.
A slight concern are the marks on the interior of the case back which indicate the rotor has been rubbing on it.
I took a closer look at the water-resistant seal on the case, and it looks a bit ratty. A new seal is an easy fix and it will hopefully give the rotor a little bit of clearance.

The watch wears very well on the wrist and, to my eyes, is quite nice looking in a funky way. OEM or not, I quite like the red second hand. Rather than transplanting the movement into another Mido, which was my Plan A, I'm inclined to give this one a little TLC and put it in the rotation.

So, of course, I'm now on the hunt for another sacrificial Mido 2836...
Bought a really Nice seamaster 60!
Totally fell in love with it

Today I got a message from customs that my latest incoming is ready to be picked up on monday. The wait is killing me because this time I have a Seiko diver incoming that is probably even rarer than my beloved Seiko Scubapro divers. During the last decade I have only seen three for sale (one from the UK and two from Australia and all of them popped up during the last three months) and I am so glad that I was able to buy the last one. It's a Seiko 7C43-700B 200m Professional quartz diver with white/silver dial. Here is the sellers pic and don't worry about its condition as I have a NOS dial and dial/chapter ring in my drawer and a NOS crystal on its way to me... (and a couple of other 7C43's ready to be sacrificed to bring this white one back to glory)

It's probably not to everyone's taste but I am so glad that I finally found one after years of looking for one..
Pre-ordered. Grand Seiko SBGR101

Thanks, I will try and get some out door sunny pics at the weekend.
Here are a couple of others.

Yes, all original and this morning I got an email that a NOS crystal (slightly different to those used on more common Seiko divers like the 6309, 7548 etc and very hard to find unfortunately) will be shipped to me soon, so I will be able to restore it.

Over the past 6 months, I have been revamping my collection.
Here's the last 4 grabs.
1st one is a CWC diver, my poor man's Omega 300m military Seamaster.
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...pseun49w9m.jpg
Next's a Zenith El Primero A385. The faded dial made me do it!

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...psq9ilinio.jpg
Followed by this Japan edition Speedmaster Reduced.
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...psum2nsiwd.jpg
Finally, a 105.002 Omega Speedy. Did not even know that such a model existed but once I saw it.. the applied logo, the starting to turn brown dial, the 'big' crown, the silver rehaut, the smaller case size.. and of the course the beautiful 321 movement. Did not fancy its telemeter bezel that came with it, so had the light blue/grey bezel fitted instead!

Just picked this little chap up.
Actually not so little at 42mm and chunky with it.
A bit tired of autos so happy to find a quality quartz with a GMT to boot.

Marathon GSAR, added to basket :-)
I have a Beijing bought here, a mystery box of 4 watches, 2 perlons and a leather strap all on the way. Probably best I stay off the sales forum for a while...
