Just wondering what the general demand for this watch is and if people are finding waiting lists for these. I have just managed to get top of the list at an AD with expected delivery in July. I appreciate the Tudor BB GMT is going to be popular (this particular AD have 10 on their list) but interested to see how the BB58 compares. I was surprised this AD had no one on their list for the BB58, is this the case at other AD’s or was I lucky?

I think the 58 is probably more for the WIS who appreciate the subtle differences from the normal Blackbay whereas the GMT is an easier mass-market sell because it is so clearly differentiated by its colour scheme and function. I'm first on a list too, but that was a release day discussion, so I have no feel for general demand since then.
Given the one recurring criticism of the black bay is its heft, I would be astonished if the bb58 doesn’t be one one of their more popular models. No idea re demand at ADs tho. Time will tell I guess ...
I think it's going to be a watch a lot of people talk about, but not many people buy.

I think the only reason an AD will have a list is because they aren’t available yet, the hype about
the GMT has created the lists but it’s not the same as Rolex waiting lists for watches which have been available for a number of years.
Will be interested to see how quickly the lists clear for the GMT.
I am quite interested in the 58 but wouldn’t buy one without trying it.
I’ll wait for the red or blue or steel or green or gmt 58 🧐
Based on the buzz around the GMT at a recent event I would say that’s the sweet spot. I prefer the 58 but I love the original and as mentioned the 58 it is thinner than the BB. I did love the GMT in leather but not on a list for either and I am happy to wait.

I also get the feeling demand may not be as high as expected as Tudor also released the GMT this year. The brand probably appeals to the 'middle class' market so people wont be forking out for 2 Tudors. Demand will be split between this and the GMT.

I am first on the list at my AD and I only filled the intent form out Saturday just gone. I was quite surprised to be honest at £2500 rrp! When I asked I expected the usual laughter but chap said I was first on BB58 intent list. I did ask about he GMT and he did say they’d had a few for that.
Just hope it’s not too small but should know soon enough.
I think there’s a bit of the whole “it’s Tudor - you don’t need to be on a list for a Tudor” going on. I’ve spoken to a few friends who are “mildly” into watches (ie not members of forums etc), and two said they were going to get the B.B. 58 but just expect to wander to a store whenever they like and just pick one up. They could be right but outside of watch forums I doubt waiting lists for a Tudor is a conversation topic
I spoke to a few ADs about the 58 recently.
Goldsmiths told me they have a centralised waiting list for the 58 and it gets capped at 500, which 2 weeks ago, they hadn't reached bit couldn't give me any more detail than that.
An Ernest Jones store in London told me they have lists per store and they had 40 or so waiting for the GMT and 6 for the 58.
WoS in Regent Street also have lists for both, and will be asking for deposits in July some time. The assistant on the phone was adamant theyll get the lion's share as it's the flagship store.
Whether any of this is actually true or not...who knows? I'm not taking it as gospel :)

He was telling me someone had a go at him the other day asking why Rolex are holding back watches. He told me they aren’t but when you consider they get allocated a pittance (and you see loads of tudors in the window) it kind of makes you think they do.
If they flooded the Rolex sport market like Tudor nobody would want one (classic people want what they can’t have) as they’d just assume they could grab one whenever. Then the fuss would die down and nobody would be talking about Rolex. I’m just thankful Rolex don’t make anything modern I like. He did give me a nice hard back Rolex catalogue, not even looked at it.
Tudor are the brand for me, I like the older stuff and Rolex always move forward and are way too bling for my taste. Tudor make a lot of stuff that looks back but it’s nice to think the BB58 pays homage to the 50’s subs yet £2500 and you can swim with it etc
I rang my AD 2 weeks ago..got the **usual alot of interest b2ll2x**..didnt say how long the list was..but he did say that he had seen it in the flesh..lets see what happens..{the longer the better..another 1K to save}

So it seems initial demand for the BB58 isn’t so hot as myself and a few others have only very recently registered our interest in the watch at AD’s and are top of their lists. No bother for me as I like the watch regardless as it addresses issues I found with the BB41 ETA I used to own.

Yep, that was my experience and I’m sure would be the same 90% of the time. As I said though this latest experience was a world away. The guy was actually a Watch enthusiast himself rather than a middle age’d lady who specialises in cooing over engagement rings! Anyone know roughly what Tudor charge for the leather strap alone? I'm positive I'd want the bracelet, but I'm also pretty keen on the strap. I know the bracelets cost a fortune to source separately (was quoted 1.2k from Fraser Hart for an S&G bracelet), but just how extortionate are the straps? I will ask them when I can, but maybe someone else has already done it.
I will never buy from goldsmith there new Rolex politics is shocking. I just go in to waste there time and try on watches.

If they sell a Rolex and keep the card but the buyer flips it and the new owner comes in and asks for his warranty card what will they do. New owner could rightly point out the agreement is between the original owner (signature) and Goldsmiths. The watch is the property of the new owner and what are they going to say when he comes in for his card. He didn’t seem to have an answer for that.

No way I’d be paying a deposit on a watch I’ve never seen, I just filled out an intent form and told the guy buying is subject to me actually liking the Watch (as obviously I haven’t seen it) He told me I was the first person for the 58 in their store.
