I hadn’t really noticed them, however is you look at the above link on images few of them have the rings on the dial.

That is true, but look closely at the second hands, they often use a god awful 5 rings counterweight. Here is Omega's own Olympic site section with the current offerings which aren't as terrible as some from days gone by:

I had noticed that, none of the watches on the above link have the rings on the front. ... they are quite tight on where the rings appear.

Whilst were on the subject, this is one of the most disgusting looking watches I have ever seen, it has nothing going for it, what were they thinking!!!?
