    Rolex display on Smart Watch

You'd think if they were going to do it, they'd make a better job of it.

I have a Pebble steel for cycling and have to confess that I wear it with a Panerai face :-D

Coming at it from the other direction, there's food for thought here:

I rather like the Panerai one.

That missing segment of the Moto 360 really annoys me...

Why is there a slice missing at the "6"?

Works well with round 'smart watches'... Maybe not so well with the Apple watch when it comes out?!

If it had a bezel (on the screen), we'd all be cooing over it

I wonder if the use of copyrighted materials has been considered in this context, by either side?

On the Moto 360 this is where the screen connections are, to minimize the bezel size.

I assume that is not approved by Rolex?

    Good point.

Would it be classed as a screen saver?

Nice, but I'll wait for the Rolex hologram watch to appear on the market.

Looking exacty like the real thing, but never in need of a service, not even a virtual one...........

    I chuckled heartily.

I wonder if we won't see more of this sort of thing though. Rather than just a fake graphic, luxury brands producing cases that smart 'movements' can then be put into. Means that you could always have an up-to-date watch as well, as once the 'movement' becomes a bit old you just buy another one to put in your designer case. Purchase an upgrade from your AD.

I can see some people still wanting real steel and there will probably always be a market for it, but I understand most luxury women's watches are quartz anyway, so it's not a huge leap from there, and fashionista scum will always want the latest crap as well.

I wonder if it's because women aren't on the whole as interested as the mechanicals of a watch as men are? My wife doesn't really care what powers her watches, she just wants them to look good and tell the time!

I think that's exactly it. With female jewel watches, it's really about the apperance (number of carats, frankly) and everything inside the watch is fairly secondary.

Saw a photo of 'the most expensive watch in the world'. A women's watch, it was 20 million worth of precious stones stuck onto a swiss quartz movement.

I think there's an assumption that women are only interested in appearance, and therefore brands produce such models, perpetuating the myth. However, I do wonder whether has anyone actually bothered to ask the question / do the research, or perhaps it's just easier to continue to pump out quartz watches rather than interesting pieces...

I think Hublot fairly recently released a range of female-targeted autos, starting at about 15k or so. I couldn't tell you how well they're doing. I understand Patek Phillipe sells mainly quartz to the female market.

It's a stupid assumption perpetuated by stupid people.
    I find it massively irritating.

My wife gets very irritated when going through all the adverts with yet another watch full of stones/Crystals/Jewels or what have you.

Wow, they really don't miss a trick.
Will it survive at 300m/1000ft though?!

New version includes the bezel... and battery life indicator on the sub-dial.

He also has the white-dialled version for download.

Also spotted everything from Breitling to Bremont, Casio to Bulova.

Interesting. Or perhaps it's just me. Might be a #smartwatchnerd thing.
