I have tried, honestly, but... I just hate them.

    I'll get my coat...

I like NATO on most sport watches, have one currently on EXP2 and GMT 2. I did try one on my DSSD. Not a good look.

Love that Seiko Bell Matic. Is it a grey dial and what is the reference number/age?

For me summer is almost always Perlon time.
Infinite fit adjustment, tail size adjustment, quick drying and no extra bits of ironwork to catch things on, I find that unless they are too thin for the watch (which happens) I prefer them over NATOs.
Doesn't stop me having a load of NATOs though......

Where is the place to buy decent quality NATO's? The last one i bought for my old CWC G10 fell to pieces pretty quickly but the one that came with my sub feels like it'll last forever.

That Zenith is sweet. Nice collection.

I'm with you. It's not for want of trying either. The only worthwhile alternative to the original straps are either leather (in some rare cases) or Silicon/Rubber (on a deployment),

Thanks, yes it's a grey dialed 4006-7021 from December 1969, just 2 months off my birth year

Often look good in pictures but in reality they make the watch sit too high on the wrist, they are fiddly to fasten and unfasten (with the extra bit to tuck in), and for me they are either too tight or too loose which combined with the extra height makes the watch flop around.

    Much prefer perlon.

And would look absolutely terrible if the ironmongery wasn't gold. These details can make a look. I too think this looks quite fetching

Perlon fine but it's a much softer dressy look. Bit flouncy on a sub.....

I was in a similar boat for a long time.
Always find them great in pics but somehow didn't do it for me IRL.
But, I didn't give up and at some point it changed and now I am really fond of them.
Do you have to persist or really make an effort to really like them? Not really but eventually you will be glad you did.

Not for me, I think it's fine on a vintage sub, but probably not one of the thicker new ones.

Thanks for getting back to me, it is a 45 (ish) year old stunner, to quote Alan Partridge!!

I can't solve all the issues for you, but since most NATOs are made of something Cordura-like, you can make them fit exactly using a small panel pin, simply heat it and poke through the strap where you want the new hole.

Leather NATOs are the most surprising they honestly take up almost zero width so they wear great and are supremely comfortable

Thanks, I didn't think it would get much love to be honest. I have a similar one in dark navy blue.

You're absolutely right, it's all about the details. Although with this one, I'm not sure gold ironmongery would be quite enough to save it!

Hmm too bright imho - takes the eyes off the watch which should be the star of the show. The first one was subdued - letting the watch shine
