Watch "worn out"?

I have a 45-50 year old Cyma automatic in excellent cosmetic condition that stops at random intervals. I've brought it to 2 local shops for service, and both tell me that nothing can be done since the watch is "worn out". Does this make sense, or do I just need better service, e.g. IWW? I hate to throw it away, but it's not worth continual $100 transfusions.

The watchmakers you brought it to may not have access to parts for a repair hence the Worn Out. I would contact IWW but they always seem to have a long waiting list. I think RGM also does restoration work maybe give them a shout. I would recommend my watchmaker in a heartbeat if you were local to me Long Island NY. He is very good and has done some wonderful work for me. I don't know if he would do long distance work, I personaly like to see the person working on my watch (there is exceptions). It is also possible that the piviots are worn out, but I doubt that...
