Uniqlo ones are great, and relatively cheap.
Recently realised that my shirts are rarely considered and I now wear t-shirts for work, weekends, and even social occasions - mostly because I know I'll end up ironing whatever it is I select each morning.
With my current assortment reaching that short, wide, twisted and generally knackered state, I'm seeking the hive's sartorial advice on a decent brand/store (online) from where to buy plain crew neck Ts that will hold their shape and not embarrass the wife...
Cheers
Uniqlo ones are great, and relatively cheap.
I like M&S Pure Cotton Crew Neck T-Shirt, currently 3 for £20. They used to be a fiver each but have gone up like everything else.

I'm still trying to find a great plain daily t-shirt so these are the best so far.
These are good but come up small, best to size up.
Quite fancy for a t-shirt so not really an undershirt. They used to max out at XL but I've just seen XXL too so they must have had some feedback https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis...black/p6030384
These are good quality if you don't mind a logo

These are really decent as a normal t-shirts/undershirt. https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis...black/p5435555
I gave up on M&S t-shirts a while ago. One wash and they're 20% shorter and 20% wider somehow. Straight to the charity shop.
Yes, Uniqlo without spending silly money.
Uniqlo are great, I wear them every day. Check out Comme de Garçon if you want something of higher quality without a lot of branding
Ha - my fashion-conscious 20 year old son just arrived so I asked him and he was impressed at my mention of Uniqlo - says he and his mates all approve. Street cred at last!
I'd recommend Armor Lux Callac T-Shirts which I have a few of and IMO are great quality. These are pretty much all I wear over the summer for going out. I buy from here when they're in the sale.

I go with Colourful Standard although plan on trying these, 7 for £50 organic cotton - https://rapanuiclothing.com/product/...-shirt-7-pack/

I have a whole bunch of Musto t shirts and they are really nice quality.
I like a decent neck on a T-shirt. I find the neck on quite a lot of the Uniqlo Ts narrow and puny. Years and years ago, I used to go for Hanes Beefy. Good necks, and bodies which kept their shapes well. This is probably from the time they were made in the USA. Not sure what they are like these days.
This summer I 'av been mostly buying Uniqlo AIRism oversized, buying one size smaller. First time I've ever bought cotton/synthetic mix. Didn't think I'd like them, but they are pretty good, comfortable in hot or cold.
F&F at Tesco are the only t-shirts I buy now. Hold their shape, don't shrink and something I can spend my clubcard points on instead of whisky.

I had a similar thought and wanted some good quality t-shirts without paying stupid money. Also wanted white ones that weren't see through.
Got a few different brands and I though Asket were the best.
Good fit, thicker quality feel, no branding which I liked.

Another vote for John Lewis Supima cotton 👍🏼
Managed to find a job lot of USA Hanes Beefy tees on eBay, as the last lot I had did me for 15 years or so, but also got a Uniqlo to check them out and was very impressed with quality and fit.
Used to always buy Uniqlo but as above these are better and cheaper

Not within the OP's criteria but there are horology based t-shirts through uchi.co.uk. Discount code 25HOROLOGY for 25% off at the moment.
Always liked the Costco "Kirkland" branded White Tees - I think they're meant as vests to be worn as a under layer, as they're very long.
Sports Direct Slazenger t-shirts 2 for £9, or polo shirts 2 for £15.
I can state from experience that the polo shirts keep their shape and colour longer than Lacoste or RL and the fit is just as good.
I like Calvin Klein ones, nice cotton, last for ages and are quite long so tuck in properly when worn under a shirt
All mine are either Musto, Icebreaker or Fred Perry.
Pity they jump from 41” (teenagers) to 46” (Billy Bunter), I’d have thought 43” was close to the ideal.

I bought some to wear as throw away pool side ones, where you need to dress for lunch.
I am surprised by your comments to be honest. They feel god awful to wear, if they see a tumble drier they shrink to nothing length wise & are scratch as anything.
They keep their colour as they are as man made as linoleum. I’ve got a wardrobe full of RL and Hackett ones that look better after many years of use.
Also don’t have a Slazenger logo on them. I remember the days when it used to be a proper brand in its own right!
Uniqlo's quality has gone a bit south on their t-shirts IMO. These look pretty good though, I'll check out when I need some!
I used to be into the merino wool vibes - still like them, but the feel of cotton and just washing them wihout worrying has been more appealing recently. My go to is a bit pricey, but really into Rag and Bone t-shirts at the moment.
If you’re not bothered about paying a little more, to ensure British people are paid properly for their work, I can thoroughly recommend these:

I’ve found Original Penguin to be good quality and wash well.

Another vote for Uniqlo. Quality to last for a good while, low enough cost that not too worried about buying quite a few of them.
I have their Denim Chore Jacket (https://communityclothing.co.uk/coll...31308571213878) that I got from JL. Seems pretty decent though I bought it as I liked it not that I knew anything about the ethos. It fits true to my normal sizing.
I have some Gap white fitted t shirts from a decade ago. I also have some recent ones. I get a year from the new ones & they are so thin by comparison. Amazing what keeping to a retail price over the years does to the quality.
^ On Community Clothing, I see nothing about using organic cotton (which surprises me given their environment message)? Also, the chore jacket photos have loose / hanging threads all over the place? Other than that, they do look good though.
I’ve used Jockey for many years, but mostly US imports where they have a higher spandex content. 5% or more is good. Avoid the 100% cotton ones as they go our of shape.
Ordered and received a couple of white Uniqlo supina t-shirts and to be honest I'm a little underwhelmed so far. Not yet been through the wash but first impressions are they are rather thin and a little on the 'off white' side. Here's hoping they'll hold their shape and prove good in the longer term.
my experience of Rapanui was that the neck seemed to stretch and sag after a few washes.
I bought white ones from Spoke and they were good - but pricey.
One of my kids suggested Tommy Hilfiger (there were some big discounts at Bicester village), and these have worn and washed well and were quite cheap too. Thicker than the Spoke ones, but really soft and comfortable. subtle logo stitched onto chest that is barely visible (I can't stand having a brand plastered across my chest)
