I'm no expert but that looks pretty good to me. Is it reasonably priced?
Came across this yesterday as I wandered the streets. What are the collective thoughts? Could there be a hidden gem under that scratched crystal or best to avoid?
Looks all original to me.

Price was hidden by the watch stand but I will pop by again in the week to enquire.

Check that the chrono works OK and also that the inner bezel turns properly.
Also that the day/date works which is activated by a double push on the recessed crown.
Cheers,
Neil.
I’ve had 2 of these in the past 18 months, both bought from a collector friend of mine so the prices were very reasonable. I think I paid around £475-£500 a piece and both were in exceptional condition. I’m guessing a dealer will want his chunk on top but they’re not overly hard to find in the second hand market. Definitely a cool watch for a relatively small amount of money.
The problem with the ‘Pogue’ is the number of examples with aftermarket bezels, dials, hands, whatever so they look pristine but they’re not really a 6139.
Finding all original at reasonable price is the trick. Handy if you have a collector mate
It’s interesting how we have different viewpoints as watch geeks. With this model, I view them as cheap working watches and expect that parts would have been replaced at service intervals over the years so am happy to consider a well looked after clean ‘franken’ watch. Such a cool series of watches, I’m on the hunt for my second.

Nice sharp case ,good bezel if it works I would buy it for a few hundred .
I don't think you could go wrong at that price.
You would probably pay more from eBay!
Yes, we are all different in this regard. I appreciate that movement parts will have been changed but would prefer dial, hands, bezel, case etc to be as original as possible. In a watch like this where aftermarket parts are readily available, it's nice to see what appears to be an original watch on offer.
Is the crystal cracked ?, I can't quite see from the photos, I have a proof dial non pouge and my mineral glass is scratched in a couple of areas.
After looking around on Google people have had good results polishing with diamond paste and Dremel.
This is what I'm going to do with mine . It won't be perfect but it's better than paying out for a original.
Three years ago I went down this road and got a Pogue. I had mine fully overhauled and that cost me £450. Needed new crown and crystal but all else was OK.
Its stated above, the crown on these pushes once in for date adjust and you sort of push harder in for day adjust. Its a delicate enough mechanism and I dont really wear mine much now for fear of damage again.
Just worth bearing the cost and delicacy in mind but it looks class.
Just to update on this.
All functions work fine. No known service history but told it is running well. Price to purchase - cash/debit card £475. (includes a 10% discount).
Crystal has a chip so would need replacing at some point.Plenty of scratches too.
On the face of it, all original watch is appealing.
It feels a little pricey to me though?
Service and crystal would be £200ish, so still not too bad if the dial is good and it's on the original bracelet.
Are the blue dials worth less than the gold or black? I have no idea?
Someone on here knows all about these. I can think of at least two and surprised they haven't commented.
Obviously it would be nice to get it for less but realistically is that ever going to happen? I would only question provenance as it's not sold by a Seiko specialist collector, but you can't have everything.
It's a head or heart thing now
Yes a little pricey BUT is it a antiques centre?
Loads of cabinets with dealer numbers on ?
If so I would make a offer at just under £400 and get them to phone the dealer . Most dealers I know want to turnover quickly so would rather make a few quid and then use that money to buy something else .
There are some dealers that won't take a penny less , I see these guys at a lot of shows with the same old stock I looked at 2 years ago!
It also helps if you have purchased there in the past
If you don't ask you will never know . Good luck
Dial was in good shape so will mull it over for a couple of days.
Sorry forgot to say, bracelet is original and it fitted me with a couple of spare holes on the clasp. April 73 watch according to the serial.
I think with a new crystal, it would transform it. Any recommendations on someone who could source and fit one quickly?
That looks a pretty decent price to me and on the original non flared bracelet which is worth a few quid on its own, as already said a crystal and service would add another £200 ish if nothing broken or in need of replacement when serviced.
As a side note be aware that the crown on these often gets broken off of the stem if handled roughly and now days OEM crowns are almost impossible to find.
I imagine going by the date it is a plain dial ? the minute hand is obscuring the text area at the 9 position.
^^^^Sorry, yes should have said, its a plain dial
