Thread: Anyone with Metro Bank?

    Anyone with Metro Bank?

I'm thinking opening a current account with another bank (partly due to not being 100% happy with my current one - Co-operative Bank) and have heard good things about Metro Bank, not least the fact that they open 7 days a week and you can actually speak to their staff face to face.

Do any of you guys bank with Metro and any impressions so far?

Are there any other banks that offer good services or perks?

"first direct" have been top for service for many years. Plus, they are currently offering £175 cash for switching to them.

This is always a good source of latest bank account deals / info:

I've been with First Direct since the very early 90s - can't fault them TBH.

First Direct. Had an offset mortgage with them, not so great on savings accounts though. They always used to answer the phone after the second ring, but now not quite so quick... same old same old.

Also now recommend Starling Bank new style bank - offer (small) interest on your GBP current account and multi-currency accounts.

Monzo for my current account. I was with Starling but Monzo offered a few extra features like virtual cards. Absolutely superb, but you need to be happy with using an app as the main interface and chatting through the app when you need something. If you are someone who is a bit of a technophobe and likes to talk to someone, you are probably better with Metro.

The other aspect is that Monzo/Starling won't give you switching bonuses like some of the other banks. You could earn £200 from a switch deal.

If it's face to face contact you want then Metro was excellent when I used to use them as a back up account, then I went to one of the challenger banks N26 and moved everything to them but they left the market so now I use Monzo as my main account but also have Starling as it allows extra cards for the kids.

First Direct since shortly after they opened, they are fabulous.

I do have a Starling account for my watch fund space, watch servicing space, routine monthly spends, and fee free overseas spends. Starling are great, but I don’t make the demands of them that I do of First Direct.

I would have a Metro Acc too, but I’m keeping it simple and don’t need another account.

Thanks guys - I've even heard of Starling or Monzo so I'll check them out.
