    Home Insurance Renewal

Similar to the Car Insurance thread ........have Building & Contents insurance prices went mental ?

Are you guys with specialist insurers including your watches or are you doing watches insured separately from your Buildings & Contents ?

I'm experiencing some astronomical quotes this year

Any help or pointers much appreciated

Just had the same task and the key for me was finding an insurer who had 1. a reasonable minimum undeclared item level (don't tell us of anything under say £2,500) and 2. allowed specific item cover in and out of the home. Ended up with Halifax, where the individual specified item limit was £20k, so did cover the more expensive things. Max specified was £50k total btw.

I guess the OP is asking about contents insurance, which is unrelated to Buildings cover.

    I’ve not noticed any issue.

    Yep ...building and contents.

Was £1400 couple of years ago , £1800 last year renewal is £2500.

Did a Price Comparison site ...cheapest £6.5k

Direct Line Specialist-arm want £3900 , had another quote yesterday ( lost track who now) £3.5k

£2.5 k renewal starting to look competitive

Yes. My B&C with Halifax ultimate increased by c30% despite no claims in period.

Shopped around and no one could really compete with the level of cover HF offered without being a similar price for less protection.

For comfort I decided to stay with them

Mine stayed pretty flat this year. And the nice thing was that I got to pay monthly with very mini interest added. Maybe less than £2 spread across the whole year

    No brainer

Not sure if paying monthly affects one's credit rating

I found the cheapest price was by insurance for all watches for inside the home only and only the most expensive watch for outside the home
