Sorry; but what is HAQ?
Is there such a thing as a HAQ quartz diver, or tool watch, in a smaller size?
I have a Sinn UX which I love, but I just feel it’s just a little too big for me. Sweet spot for me would be 40mm, but a mm or two either way would be ok. Any suggestions to replace the UX?
TIA,
Pete.
Sorry; but what is HAQ?

Sinn EZM2 is 41mm
... if you can find one...

If you can find one of Eddie’s chronometer certified PRS-18’’s, that would fit the bill for a HAQ diver. I think the diameter is 39mm. I owned an automatic version. Great watch.
Good suggestions fella’s thank you. :)
I seem to remember there used to be a HAQ Seiko diver made a few years ago, forgotten the model number now, must be like hen’s teeth to find now?
They are excellent - but not really modestly sized (43.6mm)...
The SBGX335 is pretty much my go to watch these days.
Good write up here

U50 cased UX would just about be my perfect watch.
Hope Sinn are listening
Not a diver but GS SBGX341 is pretty cool and has 200m WR

The Seiko SBCM023 might be an option as it’s sized at 39mm and the 8F35 movement is apparently accurate to 20 seconds per year.
What about the PRS18A COSC version? 40mm and HAQ.
Certina DS Action at 41mm has a 'Precidrive' HAQ and a choice of dial finishes, bracelet &c. I've owned a Certina quartz diver, and it was a fantastic watch - the finishing is exceptional, it's by no means a compromise watch.
Longines Hydroconquest at 39mm delivers everything but HAQ:
That’s a very good call.
I must admit I do have one of these that I bought from the forum very recently, it’s a fantastic watch.
Really I’m looking to replace my Sinn with a diver type HAQ watch, one without the hassle of sending to Germany for a battery change in the future.
Breitling a74380 Colt ii superquartz at 41mm is a good choice if you can find one.Battery life is about 7 years in these. I have the stratos silver version .

Production ended around 2010. They pop up used from time to time. The perpetual calendar is very nice to have. Together with the very long battery life and high accuracy, in a country (such as Japan) where there is no DST, it makes for a very easy watch to own. The red text doesn’t hurt either.
Here's mine…
Another boredom phase recently led to me reducing the collection, including my Submariner 14060. I find this Seiko entirely acceptable in its place. Like the Rolex, it just does the job, albeit in a different way. It's probably rarer too.
Note that the accuracy of 20 seconds a year is specified “when used on the wrist approximately 12 hours a day, at normal temperature range (5° C ~ 35° C)”. Which is more than fine for anyone outside of a specialist watch forum, but if you leave it in the watch box, expect up to +-4 seconds a month (Seiko's figures).

A little over your preferred size at 42mm but the GS SBGX117 is rather lovely:
Not a diver, but the GS sport 9f Quartz GMT SBGN003.

For quartz divers, it is hard to ignore Scurfa's range.
They may not be HAQ, but all quartz are very accurate, and Scurfas are excellent value.
I have the Ti non-date version, love it.

Well 20 seconds was the rating when new, unfortunately crystals tend to drift over time. Now these movements have a circuit you can "punch" for a one-time correction but it's tricky and there's a good chance of killing your watch in the process !
My SBCM023 is still like new, I need to put a new battery in someday ;-)
That reminds me what about the Bell & Ross Demineur? Not HAQ I guess but meets the 40mm requirement and I think they look rather cool ...

Thanks guys for all the suggestions, some really lovely watches to research here.
Marathon TSAR is a high torque quartz?
Just a smidge under 40mm tritium dial and hands
Not often seen in the wild

When these were first released I thought the same about the name but the reasoning behind why they are called ‘Iron Walker’ makes it a bit more tolerable. The German spelling ‘Quarz’ despite everything else being English is ok with me though. I really like the 36mm version.
It's not a diver, but maybe an older 40mm Aerospace? I've heard Breitling can replace the movement with their superquartz movement. They have to replace the caseback too since the movement is a little thicker. I'm not a fan of most Breitling watches, but the older Aerospaces look pretty nice:

I recommended this earlier in the thread. Granted it’s more sport than tool watch but it got me looking into it. One thing lead to another and it’s on my wrist today.
It’s 36mm with the same base HAQ movement that’s in the Omega Aqua Terra. Comfortable, has great AR, 100m WR and great case finishing. I’m glad I went for it. I can even live with the ‘Iron Walker’ name on the dial and the German spelling of quartz despite everything else being in English. The text is obviously a lot less obvious when wearing.
I think it’s excellent. It’s obviously not a thick and heavy affair but still a solid and well made bracelet. Taper seems to be from 20mm to 17mm. It suits the watch perfectly. Mainly brushed with slightly chamfered polished edges which is a lovely touch. Nice solid clasp too and the screwed links make it very easy to resize. Most importantly it’s very comfortable.
I have read that some people find it difficult to get a good fit due to the lack of micro adjustments but the half links help. Thankfully I’ve managed to get a great fit. Overall I’m very pleased with it. Even the little touches like matching colour date wheel and using the same silver print for the date and logo etc make a difference. I wish other brands would incorporate this more!

Dial including chapter ring is around 28mm. It wears bigger than my Tag Heuer 2000 classic (38.5mm) but I guess that’s to be expected as it doesn’t have the diver bezel. I do like smaller watches in general so this is perfect for me and on my tiny wrist (about 6.1”) it certainly doesn’t look like a small watch. The clasp is quite short on the 36mm version so if you have bigger hands I would try one first, although the guy in the review below has a bigger wrist than me as was able to wear it!
He reviews here in Swedish but some good photos and he also gives an English review on WUS:

Absolutely, although I actually prefer the simpler bezel, matching date wheel and crown guards of the Wempe. Having said that if anyone has a VC that they would like to do a straight swap for I could be tempted

Breitling Aerospace Titanium 40mm, 100m rating, thermo compensated SuperQuartz.
That ticks all the boxes.
