    DN 60

I am absolutely thrilled!! CHANSK has promised to sell me one of his two DN. Price is of course at market valuation. However the thrill of getting one far outweighs the cash outlay!!! Woo Hoo. What a way to start my Friday!! DN Rocks anytime!!

Congratulations, you did well to find one. I know it may look as though a lot of Dreadnoughts have changed hands but I don't think it's more than 25.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your DN, Jam

Makes me feel as if I did justice to DN by letting another person enjoy it as much as I am. . .

#190 is NOT for sale. . . ever.

SGD 2000-2500 would be about USD 1000-1500, just for interest's sake.

    Watch Review

Movement - 2824-2 adjusted movement is fairly accurate. Mine is about +-3 sec/day.
The winding is crispy clean. Good! The only minus point is the loose stem to the movement. When you unscrew the crown, it pops out to the 2nd position, passing the 1st winding position. It takes a bit of "feel" to know your DN and the 1st and 2nd position when doing date adjustment.

Case - Design is superb. The last time i am so captivated by a watch case design is the TAG AQUAGRAPH. The bead blasted finish helps to bring out the dial.

Watch seems to be a good mix of Omega PloProf & Tag Heuer Cal

Dial - Simple yet beautiful. The color contrast is the highlight of the dial. We should have more of such color interplay in dive and desk pilot watches.

Overall i rate it at 8/5/10

I paid SGD 2400 for it. It is worth it???

I would frankly say yes & no. No as, for SGD2400, you can get a TAG AQUA NIB in Singapore/ Omega Seamaster Chrono/ Breit Avenger NIB

Then why did i pay silly amount for it?

You can't get this anywhere else in the whole universe till DN GMT is out for sale.

The original cost of the watch is about SGD 1600 after shipping & taxes.

FOr just SGD 800 more, i get a watch that will kill my watch itch for a SIGNIFICANT period of time, IMHO. It is worth it for that reason alone.

My Panerai 111 & Sea Dweller has been sitting in the watch box since the arrival of DN.

Panerai are everywhere, Rolex are everywhere, BUT DN, only 4 in Singaore and this thought tickles me to death!!!
Everyone of my friend who sees it has nothing but good thing to say about it. "Nice, chunky, Unique, Breit looking yet the dial so Omegaish and the bezel so TAGish.'

My only concern now is will the dial parts be available for us in future when we need to service it?

    Eddie, any comments?

Parts are available if required and I see no reason why they shouldn't be available for a long time.

The 'feel' of the crown has to do with the fact that the crown itself and the winding stem decouple when you screw down the crown... ( thus making it a form of double decoupling....)

we've discussed this design features here....

    http://www.tz-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1723

so in fact it's an advanced technical feature only to be found in very few watches... encapsulated lubrication and enhanced waterresistance ( up to 200 bar) are among the technical advantages of this design.....

(which makes your DN even more special that a lot of the other forementioned watches... )

I won't trade my DN for a Tag Aquag. Liked the size and solidity of the Aquag but not the lack of a date function.
So, are you saving the DN bracelet for a special occasion?

At SGD2400, you've just made a killing, especially when there are now only 3 DNs in Singapore.
My DN and I are no longer in Singapore, but back in Malaysia. So, maybe one day I should ask Flying Doctor to update the DN owners' map.

Having the DN does kill the desire to consider any other watches. I was looking at the SD and Seamaster until I bought the DN.

You're right, JJ - having a DN kills the desire

    to own other watches.

Because of the tendency to compare the DN with the rest of the harem, the DN usually stands tall and proud. It certainly has presence in every sense: physical, performance, resilience and my, what a handsome watch.

I only dare compare the DN performance with my Tag 1000M Pro in a "face-off" so as to say. I mean head-to-head, I would say they see eye-to-eye. However, TH lost out in terms of its bracelet which appears to be weaker and less robust than DN's.

    Differences:
->DN's limited edition and TH is not, but TH is now a discontinued model.
->DN's Certified Chronometer and TH is not, but this TH keeps time to +-2 secs per day.
->DN's screwback and TH's got monobloc case.
    ->DN's 500M WR while TH's 1000M.
->Ahh. . . DN's got bombe sapphire while TH has flat sapphire.
    1st edit:
->DN's tool-and-business like while TH appears more artistic and avant garde

Oh well, at the end of the day, we cannot compare apples with oranges; it all depends on whether we like apples or oranges.

My TH's stirred up my desire to find more watches like it, and having the DN fulfilled my desire to own any more watches. Arrgh . . . it's all Catch-22.

    Sounds deja vu?

On the one hand, I've got me a watch that sets up my desire to own more like it, and on the other hand, I've got one that I feel is the ultimate and dampened my desire to want other watches.

Nope, I am keeping the bracelet in the box. have no intention of wearing it. I like heavy watches on thick leather strap or NATO strap will do

It is a bit heavy on the bracelet. Much more wearable on a good, sturdy strap. Mine actually gets more wrist-hours than lange and goldbird put together.

You wear the DN on a NATO? I think a Rhino would suit the DN better than the thinner NATO.

You wear the DN on leather. I guess that would mean that you change straps when you get into the water.

So are there lots of "ooohs" and "ahhhhs" when you wear the DN to the office? It's something not often seen in Singapore unlike the Sub.

Do you get any comments on watches? I don't think that I've ever had one. Not wearing an Omega Speedmaster (late 80s), Rolex Date (early 90s), or Casio digital (mid-90s -- last year). Wait. I remember when I was a hippy (early 70s) I only carried pocket watches. Those got commented on. But never a wrist watch. Maybe the stealth orange PRS4 will! I hope.

    Best wishes,
    Bob

In the past I have described this watch ...

" .... the most beautifully right watch I have seen for a very long time. It?s Mona Lisa on an armband. Too lovely, for words. "

And this picture of yours proves it.
