Such a difference to last week, lacking confidence now

We are toast here. Scrum penalties. That's the game. Well done South Africa and amazing to see a black captain lift the cup for the first time.

South Africa are smashing it here, not an expert and I'll happily eat my words but England are in deep deep trouble.
Is the tactic that SA will run out of fuel in last 20 mins ? Looks like it's all going wrong atm.
Plenty of time for a change in fortunes. This isn't football. You get 7 points when you try and convert.

Loooong way to go. Far from over.

What an idiot so obviously taking down that maul
Still think England have a try in them - not sure if it will be enough though. SA would need to tire.
Discipline lacking. Suggests a lack of belief to my eyes
Told you all. :)

Applause. They do run the ball after all I guess
Huge moment there.

That's that then
As we were.
All blacks must be hugely frustrated watching this
Yep, well deserved. England choked today.
Superb chip n chase, finished off with a great little pass.
Lovely rugby
This is like beating Man City in an FA Cup semi final then losing the final to Aston Villa 😂
Ah well, back to the footie in a few hours.
Again the positive thing is in a world where hatred and xenophobia is rife politically we get a black captain lifting the World Cup

Some absolutely awful hair cuts on show at this tournament.
A lot of truth in that England played their final last week.
I think when England didn't go over in the 1st half after the intense pressure was a big blow.
Two completely different teams from previous form turned up today. Well done SA

Well done South Africa - deserved.
England out played and out bullied this game. Shame, but it's been a wonderful competition and England can hold their heads up high as First losers.

There can be no complaints about the result. Convincing in the end.

Springboks outplayed, outthought, and outmuscled England. They even showed more flair and attacking rugby. Hugely impressive and professional demolition job over an admittedly jaded and dispirited looking England squad.
Still it’s been a good tournament for them. Losing finalists not so bad. 20 points is a humping tho.
Well that was a shock. Talking to customers about today’s game in my taxi last night. When asked who I thought would win and by how much I said England by at least twenty points.
I’m a proud Welshman but I really did want to see England win and have the Cup in the northern hemisphere for the next four years.
Ah well. That's that then :(

The last two games played by both England and Wales just goes to show, you can’t judge your next performance on your last.
We lost against SA by just one penalty and then got rolled over by the All Blacks, and England beat the All Blacks convincingly and then got stuffed by SA.
It’s a funny old game.
Congratulations South Africa; the stronger team won on the day. Gutted but that's sport. Be gracious in defeat and magnanimous in victory.

Sadly have to agree that the best team won. I think it was a combination of too many handling errors and Sinkler going off early. But that is the game for you.
When I congratulated the only South African in the pub and said that if we hadn't have knocked out the All Blacks for them last week it might have been a different story this week. He agreed wholeheartedly.
At leat we put our performance in the last world cup to bed. Bring on the Six Nations.

What an amazing leader and role model Kolisi is. These rare people really stand out.
Too physical and to be fair have been underrated all week by many who forget they are the southern hemisphere champs!!
Congrats to the Boks

Im not a rugby follower but I felt the disappointment of the defeat. It would have been a great year considering the heights of the England cricket team and English football dominating Europe. I believe any final of this magnitude always creates a new generation of followers and players.......onwards and upwards.

Excuse my ignorance, but is this really the biggest deal?
Genuinely I'm not stirring here but it sounds more ignorant raising the fact that the captain is black... so what? Surely such a thing does more harm than good by polarising fans and separating the racists from the not.
Yes he's black, he's also a professional sportsman.
I blame 'Arry, turning up late to accept all the accoloades from his adoring public.
