Thread: So what to do with one of those large Omega Moonwatch boxes!

  1. #1

So what to do with one of those large Omega Moonwatch boxes!

Well I have turned mine into a nice watch storage box for my Omegas.

A nice Frenchman made it for me! I think the box was made in Hong Kong but it was shipped from France.

I am really pleased with it and look forward to completing the first 5 slots with speedys later this year with the arrival of a Japan Olympic Panda in December!

I always though about doing something like that with mine. As it is it's sitting inside cupboard in a different continent.

That looks the business. For the sake of clarity, did somebody make an insert for a box that you already owned or do they provide the complete package?
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

I bought the last moonwatch box from sales corner to do this too. Think they look great.

Did you buy just the insert ?

Such a great idea, just think of all those LE Speedies you can buy £££... surprised Omega haven’t thought about it although theirs would probably cost the moon!

I'm interested in that too, as I have one of those boxes in the attic. That looks fantastic!

What a good idea. The moonwatch box is completely OTT, so this is brilliant.

Very nice, a fantastic way to make use of the oversized box which is stuffed under a bed or in a cupboard and forgotten about.

An excellent solution to the Moonwatch box madness!

I sold mine and bought a vintage red Omega box.

This is a good idea as it means you still have the full set in case you want to sell in the future.

From the Speedytuesday group on Facebook some one said misterchrono sell the inserts seperately. I’ve asked how much they are.

This is the one from the Facebook group which looks the same.

I was just about to buy another 12 slot box, but if these inserts can be bought then I'm definitely up for one.

I think I saw a picture of a limited edition brief case housing a various versions of the Speedmaster with NASA mission badges etc on the inside of the lid. Probably the Omega forum.

Yes I had the box and then that’s the Company I contacted who then made the tray for me. They are based in Hong Kong but ship through France. The price is negotiable and also depends how many orders they have as well.

The 10 watch tray is really well made, very solid and has a nice weight to it. It also fits perfectly but can be removed if you wish to put back in the old cardboard Omega insert if you wanted to move it on. They quoted 8 weeks but it only took about 3 weeks to arrive.

It isn’t the cheapest watch storage solution in the world but nor is it the most expensive but I think it looks really cool and now much more useful

Think it’s a shame people sell the boxes, maybe I’m weird but I like to have the original box. I’ve seen someone selling the box as it “takes up too much space”. What the hell are they living in? You’re throwing away a lot of the value and originality IMO

    Thumbs up!

That is an excellent reinvention of that box. Always felt that the box was somewhat OTT and was just used by Omega to hitch up the speedy price considerably but this is a great use of the box to present multiple watches, especially if you were a Speedy collector.

  35. #35
It looks great and I don't think it would be too hard to build the insert yourself. All you would need is some MDF, soft lining material, watch pillows, glue and a chop saw.

I keep my watches in a safe when I'm not wearing them so I wouldn't have use for one myself.

  36. #36
Great idea. I’ve been tempted to prise out the liner on mine to just use it as a bedside storage box. This is much better.

Yep these are the guys. The more the merrier and the better price you will get.

Wish I had known there was lots on interest as would have made the price I paid more reasonable!

As I mentioned earlier, they are very nice.

But 300 quid nice?! I'll declare myself out of this one.

Well if we had an idea of numbers maybe we could get it down a bit and then I’d probably go for it but I’m not sure it’s worth £300 tbh.

So how many are up for it if we manage to get the price down a bit??
