Anybody volunteering to test it???
How about this for WR on a budget?
https://www.menkind.co.uk/storm-aqua...watch-47281-bk
If you read this thread you will see that we have decided to submit a Storm Aqua-Pro watch to a Pressure Test. The watch has claimed WR rating of 1000 Metres. Storm Watches London has reiterated that they stand by the WR claim (see below).
Very kindly, our esteemed member animalone has agreed to purchase the watch directly and do the testing pressure testing. Animalone undertakes produce a video of the test to show us how it goes.
In return, we are soliciting £5 each from participating contributors against the cost of the watch purchase to go to animalone directly. All contributions over and above the purchase price (£100 I think) will be paid into the TZ-UK charity fundraiser.
If the watch survives the pressure testing , animal one will put all the contributors names in a hat and the watch will go to the first named/contributor drawn out of the hat.
NOTE: If you would like to contribute a fiver to the test purchase, please send a pm to animalone and he will pm you in return with his PayPal email address. You can use PayPal gift (through Friends and Family I think it's called) to avoid fees.

Well, it's got a helium valve. Do quartz watches need a helium valve?
Hmm, I just realised I don't even know why a watch needs a helium valve. Where does the helium come from?
Off to Google....
“Amazing Storm watch”
“Gorgeous and reliable design”
someone left it to the intern to write up the description...

I wore my watch (Seamaster quartz) over my drysuit wrist seal, but underneath my dry glove, which was pretty pointless as I couldn’t see it, but bear with me. I then ran my drysuit inflation from my trimix bailout. As the suit equalises with the gloves, the watch did the dive dry in a Helium environment 😀 although a ‘wet’ dive. Last laugh on me though as I was freezing due to using trimix for suit inflation. I am going to claim the world’s first non-sat use of a helium escape valve on a watch 👍
Push-in or screw-down crowns?

Ignorance breeds Fear. Fear breeds Hatred. Hatred breeds Ignorance. Break the chain.
Imo we should buy it and send to Dunc for 100bar testing.
UPDATE: I have emailed Storm Watches, London to ask if they stand by the claim of 1000M Water Resistance. I have asked if they certify the WR in some way and if they test a sample of the watch in question so as to verify the claim made on the watch dial.
I will post their response (if any).
Lets see what happens.
Lol don't believe them.
1000m is 1400psi+
Want to chip in to buy one to put to the test?
RECREATIONAL diving upto 1000m?!
I'll chip in. I've bought one, which is on it's way to me, but I might want to keep it.
Are you going to order it direct to you animalone? Tell me where to send the money (PayPal gift?) and I'll contribute £5 (or other amount if required).
Couldn't add one to the basket as it said unavailable, however I have just ordered one direct from Storm outlet to test.
Cost a bit more but sure it will be worth it. (£100)
What I'll do is if anyone wants to chip in £5 to cover the cost I'll put their names in a hat and if the watch survives I will draw a name to win it. Anything we raise over the cost of the watch will go to the fundraiser.
I plan on doing the pressure test at the end of the month, so that will give plenty of time if you want to put your name down (I'll update this post as we go)
I will set the cost of the watch at the £55 of the original advert so everything we raise over that will go to the fundraiser I'll cover the difference and postage.

I'm In, tell me where to send the fiver.
Lol im sure we'd all donate a fiver.
Ok, it's arrived. And it's a big hefty thing! Seems to have a thick crystal with some sort of gasket around the edge. Edit: may be just the edge of the crystal - not a gasket. Lugs quite curved, so should wear ok. Now to resize the bracelet.

Just to report that the Storm Aqua-Pro watch as delivered this morning is DOA. I assume the battery is dead. I have contacted Menkind from whence I purchased it (link in first post) to see how they want to deal with this.
Because of the high WR it will have to be pressure tested properly after a professional (i.e. not high street) battery change. Any recommendations for this please?
With the 100bar rating you would assume the crystal is sealed with an L gasket.
Are the pushers screwed?
Being screwed down doesn't increase WR in most cases. It usually just ensures that the seals remain seated if the crown/pusher is knocked.
A gentle bump to see if it's possible to help animalone a bit more towards the cost and test of this watch.
Now that I'm back I can turn my attention to this properly
The watch has arrived with me an I hadn't appreciated how big it was so a couple of shots next to my SBBN013 for scale.
At present only two people have entered for a chance to win this watch (IF it survives !!!!) so if you want a chance to win it then you will need to let me know before Saturday when I plan on doing the test.
From what I read there was no issue with warranty. It was more that Seiko said that repair was not necessary as the alignment issues were within tolerance and therefore perfectly acceptable.
And while I'm here I may as well have a ticket for this little raffle. Watching with interest!
