Replaciing a Thermostatic Shower Mixer - Help Please

Just tapping into the TZ fountain of all practical knowledge.

I have to change a current thermostatic shower mixer, and want to replace it with a bog standard thermostatic bar mixer. Looking at the photos I've attached is this possible? I've looked at some youtube of replacing bar mixer, and it just looks like screw off and screw on.

However, since this isn't a standard bar mixer I can't tell if this also just screws off. I thought I'd ask for advice as I don't want to turn the water off and get half way through the job and find I'm buggered and can't turn the water back on.

The distance between the cente of the hot and cold feed pipe is 6" (150 mm), so that appears promising.

Any thought? (note the brown packing tape is holiding the on/off valve in place preventing the house being flooded while we're at work!)

looks like an old Aqualisa, the link below shows fitting instructions so you should be able to remove it.

If you are left with 2 exposed pipes and tiles intact a bar shower should fit easily but you will need one with a surface mounted kit .

You might want to pick up a couple of 15mm speedfit blanks incase you run into trouble.

    Good luck.

Wow - thank. Great reply. The Aqualisa sign was missing so I had no idea what the shower was (or to find out what it was)

I’ll take a look at this all when I get home from work tonight.

Hopefully when I take the mixer off I’m left with two exposed pipes with threaded ends for the bar mixer to connect to.

The pipes will be plain ended, you will need these unless the shower you buy comes with them
