    Very pricey for a G10.

We could all down that route in having a sapphire fitted.

Does anyone know if the Pulsar G10 is still being issued?

In view of the price hikes at CWC, one has to wonder why the MOD doesn't go back to Precista, at least for the divers. The PRS-18Q would be a better bet than the CWC RN or SBS divers.

I would hazard a guess that the MOD may pay over the odds for CWC watches, but they will be paying far less than members of the public.

    CWC

Great deals on these. I just got the message myself. Nothing wrong with a gently used one.

    Get 'em while you can.

Here's mine I picked up last year. Now I'm hooked.

This is my first post here but I am active on WUS. Do I have time for two forums?

The straps are not for me. The fact that the reissue 1980 will only have 50 pieces in the first tranche means I fear my estimate of a grand may be way out

Well after all the long build up, that's me out(if true).

Ooh, big fan of that French military strap. I have a Type Demineur en route, and that'll go nicely with it.

Just received my mk II quartz diver. Having owned quite a few of these over the years I would say that the significant price hike had been matched with significant improvements in quality. Not just the 120 click bezel and sapphire crystal upgrade but also the fit and finish. The bezel for example now comes with slightly recessed numerals with painted infill and the lume pip is more neatly applied.
I went for the polished version which is actually quite subtle but lends it a more expensive feel.
So overall far less agricultural in build than they used to be (still too expensive though!)

Great photos, is that a new stainless steel day date model? Is it brushed and polished? I think that's the best combination. I have a tritium one which is having a sapphire glass fitted at the moment which I think should make it the perfect tool watch.

its a mk 2 quartz, polished case and the sbs dial. Same price as the sbs.

I think you can order whatever you like ? I noticed on cwc instagram a brushed case black bezel and crown version.

The colour and glossy look of the dial lume doesn't look quite right to me, would have preferred if it matched the hands. Glad I'm not 100% on it in the end as way out of what if have been willing to spend.

    CWC latest.

I have just seen this email as well
With luck I have a meeting around the corner from silvermans this afternoon
If I can get there before closing I will pop in and report back

I do like it though, it's just double what I would be willing to spend

    Cheers

    Hmmm

I pulled out of an eBay bidding run on a 2013 SBS at £425 - it went for £450.

Whilst I like them, I am not sure I like them at the money being discussed here.

I fully agree Chris. I wouldn't want to pay that much for a work/rough and tumble watch and have it end up looking like mine . . . ;-)

Swing and a miss. I’d have expected more than a cheapo tin box for £2k, too. CWC are very greedy.

I don't think it's just CWC being greedy. I'd suggest it's Silverman's having some input too.

its a miss for me too, don't like the faux patina and the price tag is way too high.

Wonder if it will end up being discounted when they've still got half of them in stock in six months time?

I might be wrong but I thought that Silverman's & CWC are actually the same group of guys... So it's really just about £/$'s

Cabot Watch Company was founded in 1972 by Ray Mellor but is now owned by Silverman’s...
Silverman's rarely discount... As shown by the CWC mechanical Chronographs that they had in stock for years!

That's probably a good sign in many ways, especially for the early adopters.

As you pointed out CWC are owned by Silverman's so they'll have plenty of margin to play with and can sit on these for as long as it takes to shift them.

I used to love CWC, for me they were great value tool watches. Now the prices have shot up they just don’t appeal anymore. They’re still the same, fairly basic watches but at high prices which takes them out of the beater market. I picked up my new SBS ( biggest selling regret) a few years ago for not much more than £300. I even preferred the old website compared to their new one which has had the marketing department go to town on it! I’ve given my opinion of the Diver re-issue over in watch talk.

The quartz were £200 back in the day and the auto non date was £350 and bit more for a date . I’m sure the SBS was £299. Again we are going back to 2010 maybe further

I've had a few now and the one i'v just got is nicer finished, but I think I prefer the older ones. Obviously lots cheaper and a bit rough but that was the attraction for me. Odd as generally anyone would be pleased normally, but it's lost that Gshock-like beater flavour imo.

Anyone else get the email today regarding the reissue?

Something along the lines of “just the last few serial numbers left from the first batch” Seems
like it’s been a roaring success then. Serves them right the greedy so and so’s. Messed up the design and priced most people out of a purchase.

Next batch available in March 18 at a more reasonable rrp me thinks...
