Great read! Great pics, I can almost smell the wood, the plaster and the new furniture! That lovely smell of 'new'. Keep us posted!

I really hate to say this but I think I preferred the before pictures of the garden . I'm looking forward to the rest.
Only about a million times better...
Nice work!
Love the grounds . Looking forward to the proper update :-)
I was just thinking the other day about this thread and a update. Amazing transformation (not that it was not nice to begin with).
Spoken like a true architect!
I've lined up all the lintel heights across the back as it was a mess previously. Different just to be different. I've not gone Georgian on the back as it is North facing and limits light, it is also overly fussy for a rear of house and from the living space, playroom, morning room, kitchen etc. The house isn't Georgian, it's 1982 built and we have kept the front and sides authentic mock Georgian with the sliders etc at great expense.
The windows are hardly cheap mass produced, they are Residence 9 profiles, and permitted in many conservation areas as a replacement for timber.
Don't take the bait!
Looks awesome, makes my own renovation look mickey mouse :(
I've have a sneaking suspicion you won't be so crass as to reveal it, but experiencing my own financial 'death by a thousand cuts', I'd like to know the figure on this amount of work!
I've just spent the last couple of hours reading this thread. Firstly I cannot believe I have previously not come across this thread. Well done to the OP for an amazing renovation and for taking the time out to give such a detailed and comprehensive account.
I too am in the middle of a similar renovation. We bought a large Edwardian house which had not been updated since around the 80's. We started work in 2010 and we are still going strong!!!
Reading this thread I am inspired to start my own thread but I'm not sure I have the patience.
Good luck to the OP and I will be following progress with interest.

Just noticed this thread, great project, just one query, did you not wrap the land / french drains in terram?
Why are the R9 Windows a faff to fit?
Superb Jacob, many congrats.
What an excellent job , great thread . A true artist
Wow amazing transformation so far, looking forward to seeing the rest.
P.s. Some people just don't appreciate class!
Would like to see the finishing touches, more pics please!
Thanks. It has come a very long way but I need to find a other hosting company as photobucket has gone Pete tong on me.
Moving in October all being well.
I'll post an update asap.
So a quick search for double glazing has had me glued go the thread, top to bottom.
Me and my wife are in the process of buying a 70's built house. Nowhere near the scale of this build (thank god -:))
You truly have a remarkable home. I hope you can finish the thread with all the after pictures now.
Mark
Thanks Mark, I can as we moved in a few weeks back. Photobucket put a spanner in the work of recent updates. But I'll skip the progress and just post of the mostly finished house soon.
great to hear its all done.
Its really a massive inspiration.
Ok, so after 18 months of a mixture of stress, anxiety, euphoria, being let down countless times, issues with lead times, deliveries, people trying to pull a fast one etc... we finally moved in in late October.
We've still a couple of rooms to complete and lots of soft furnishings to sort, but it is a fabulous and comfortable home and we couldn't be happier with it.
Here are a few photos I had on my fine, more to follow: -

Wow, that's a beautiful house you've made there. Just out of interest what are you using the covered outside pergola for. A bar perhaps? 😁
JC that is a spectacular house you have there, Sir.
I'm a 3 bedroom Semi type... i want to kill myself.
Some stunning rooms there for what’s an undoubtedly stunning house!
I like the leather sofa arrangement in the office.
Incredible. So envious of your study/office!
Superb throughout!
It's all extremely impressive, for me the stairwell is the standout feature. The handrails, ironwork and colour coordination just works so well.
It’s ok I suppose but where was the MX5? Stunning, love that staircase, very well done sir.
I had the pleasure of a private tour a couple of weeks ago
it is totally stunning and only someone with JC's OCD and determination could get a house and garden to this level. My wife came home complaining that we live in "a hovel" after our visit.
I know watches have had to be sold/taken a back seat to get this done, but am sure one day you will get some more
A spectacular house with an amazing level of detail.
It's these kind of threads, along with the car restoration etc etc threads that make this place genuinely a joy to visit, despite all the other nonsense.
Well done on an amazing job and I hope you and your family have the first of many fantastic Christmas's in a beautiful house.
Hat's off sir.
Many thanks everyone for your kind comments... Just a few more
Some firms and tradesmen really shone on this project, others did not cover themselves in glory, it was really quite a revealing process.

That’s amazing. You guys have really done a wonderful job on that place. I hope you have a fantastic Christmas in the new home. I’m looking forward to seeing the Christmas tree picture now.
What a job sir 👍🏻
Does it make all the stress worth it?
Hope you have many happy years in the new house!!
Wow, what a lovely home.
Very impressive. Thanks for sharing pictures.
When I started reading this, I was think yep I'm renovating a house too, yep it went massively over budget, yep we've just moved in 3 weeks ago with it unfinished too... Then I saw the photos and that's where the similarity ends! 😆 LOL.
What a project you took on, the house looks truly amazing. I hope you have many happy years there together.

Beautiful home, I can only imagine the hard work and patience this has taken.
Jesus, man.
If i had a kitchen like your utility room i'd be delighted.
Stunning. It looks a lot of hard work but it’s definitely paid off!
Enjoy it.
Wow
Just stunning
Love the evohome TRV on the rad next to the dressing couch.
Is the whole house air con?
Simply stunning - a labour of love!
Amazing thread and it is fantastic what you have achieved. Thanks for taking the time to upload the odd picture here and there...!
Amazing thread - some of the last pictures seem to have gone now though!
