Great watches - got to be just about as good a trio as it gets 😎
Just thought I will do a quick SOTC as I have never done something like this before or maybe I have but its been a while. I feel my collection is at a place where there is a very strong foundation for growth in the future if any but i'm quite satisfied that I have reached this stage. I have been in the "watch game" for around a decade and pretty obsessed with it. I consider myself a pretty serious enthusiast! Been acquiring, flipping, acquiring, flipping, just trying to find what I like and I have settled on a short philosophy as follows:
- Quality > Quantity.
- Keep it to less than or equal to 4.
- No point if I am not gonna wear it. No safe queens here.
- Chronographs rule :)
So having said that I present my current SOTC which consists of 3 watches. Apologies for the photo, is meant to be a quick SOTC rather than an in-depth and if anyone wants an in depth ill do one if there is demand haha
1) Every day beater, the "Patek Philippe 5990/1A-001"
For me the the perfect every day watch. Some may disagree that I should use such a high end piece as an every day watch but ignoring the price, there couldn't be a better watch. Dual time zone, flyback chronograph, made of Stainless steel, and 120m water resistant. For me its just the perfect watch and hence I wear it 70% of the time! Love it to bits.
2) A Lange Sohne 1815 boutique edition flyback chronograph:
The best finished movement i have ever seen. Flip it over and you see a metropolis. For me, it beats patek. I don't wear it often but when I do, its just amazing. I've been to the lange manufacture and its just breath taking.
3) Rolex Daytona 116520 Black
Bought this as an engagement with my fiancee. Miraculously the AD had both white and black and so we bought it together. Not much else to say here as everyone knows this watch suffice to say, its one of the best automatic chronographs ever made period.
Great watches - got to be just about as good a trio as it gets 😎
Very nice collection.
Superb, all of them. I agree about Lange being a step above. Had the bog standard (!) 1815 chronograph and the movement is unbelievably good. There's a very inviting empty space in that box though. What's to go in it?
Wow this is a very serious collection!
Indeed, you have stuck to your philosophy closely.
Out of interest how many watches have you bought and sold before getting to this stage?

A 5990 as a beater, brilliant :)
Amazing trio that's screaming out to become a foursome.
To be fair 35 over the space of a decade doesn't seem excessive.
Congratulations on where you've ended up!

Fabulous trio- quality over quantity for sure.
It's hard to think how you could improve on those three.
Lovely collection but I must admit that after Patek and Lange the Rolex was a bit meh. But the lovely story makes up for it!
Any chance to get some more feedback and photos of the 5990?
^^ As EJL says id love to hear more about the 5990,Lovely watch. All 3 are about as good as it gets for me.
Very nice - I've probably had a similar number of watches over the past 5 years and have also slimmed my collection down - but nothing like the quality on show here :)
What a dream trio! Huge congrats. Takes discipline and knowing yourself well to keep quantity in check. Edit: just read you are getting speedy Tuesday as fourth. So would that 4 be the end state collection?

Very nice collection, the boutique version of the 1815 chrono has the best dial, looks good front and back
What a trio! As a fellow lover of the chronograph I don't think you could have a better 3. Have you had a Speedmaster along the way? Interesting to know how you think it compares to the Daytona?
Here's a wrist shot. My wrist is 6"

Probably not the end yet. I would like to break the chronograph rule and get a 5131 enamel dia at some point but it will be a while for that one Lol. Otherwise another watch i like is the vacheron CDV but residuals are quite key for me too.

I would like to add another philosophy i forgot to add and that was the issue of residuals. I try not to get too caught up in this but it's hard to separate the 2 particularly when the values are quite considerable. pretty much every watch i have will retain the majority or surpass the price i paid on it and that's an attractive point of this hobby too.

Agree with your point about residuals having an impact. It influences my buying decisions too.
What a lovely collection! The Lange is my favourite by far. Any chance you could post some more shots?

Love it!! Pp is a beater
Wow. Amazing !
Will that be the 5131r or p?
The P will be mighty heavy with that bracelet.

Nice trio👍
I think the JLC 8-day perpetual would have been a brilliant way of finishing off that last slot.... =P
Great collection Jordan, thanks for posting!
The last one is from

Sweet lord. Holy trinity!
A Fantastic trio and a great example of quality over quantity.
I am a firm believer in wearing, rather than leaving in a safe, but a serious question - what watch do you wear gardening, washing the car or beach holidays?
Nice collection.
Gongratulations!

A small but perfectly formed collection!!
A PP as a beater well that says it all really!!
Chris
Very nice, and none of the 'sprawl' many of us are prone too. Every time I see a Lange I want to get one. As for the Speedy Tuesday....is it going to be 'high end' enough for you? I suppose it will be rarer than a Daytona, so......but perhaps a Patek chrono , 5170, would be a more demanding target? What a watch.

A superb and enviable collection, huge congrats and well played!
Wow, a very impressive collection you have there.
Stunning collection. Congrats!
Great collection!
I am trying to follow a similar 3 watch consolidation path (Nautilus. Aquanaut and Daytona) but your more Premier League and I'm Division 3 :)
Ive always found the 5990 dial too busy for my liking but your pics have made me take another look again!!!!!!
The 116520 kept in great condition as yours (and mine) also makes the lust for the ceramic version dissapear!
Very very nice. I'd happily have the lot ;)
It's just a matter of time...
Clearly, three fantastic watches which pretty much everyone here would be very pleased to own. My favourite is possibly the A.Lange and Sohne but I am just not sure of the cut out numerals which make way for the sub-dials. This just looks less than elegant on such a watch. The movement though is truly something ! Congrats on the high class collection.
